Plasma or LCD?

I'm looking to get a new TV and seeing some pretty good deals on Plasma TVs. Should I go with Plasma or get an LCD? Seeing good deals on Panasonic Plasmas. Any advice is appreciated.

We had a plasma got a few LCD's & a LED now the LED is the best. A Toshiba LCD will give you the best bang for you buck. IMO

Thanks Old School, that Samsung looks sweet. Although, I can get a 50" Panasonic plasma for $989 at Best Buy. What to do? Spend more and get the sweet Samsung or play it cheap and get the Panasonic?

Sponge, Sylvan is not the same as Sylvania.

be sure to compare the cost of exstended warranty at best buy vs Sams Club..

you may be very surprised..

I have shopped HiDef TV for over 4 years now..

Became almost an obession ...

Personally..for the money..

LED...fantastic..but still pricey

LCD...fantastic picture and prices still going down..

PLASMA..nice..but IMHO just don't have that picture quality that a Samsung LCD 1080P or other well manufactured LCD'S give you

PLASMA PANOSONIC..30,000:1 contrast

SAMSUNG 52" 80,000:1 CONTRAST RATIO


note...2 yr exstended at Best Buy $200.00

be sure to do a sound check for quality on any make or model you choose..

you will be surprised to find out that some of the little less expensive models are not as crystal clear and must me turned up in order to hear clearly or have a sound around hooked to them..


I have a 32"

a 52''

and 55''

and damn it..

I want a 72''

will have to wait...

certainly understand their reasoning..

but for my money..or anybody elses given me to spend..

if I pay 2 grand including tax and only have to pay $200.00 more for that set to be covered for a 4 yr period..1 yr manuf+ 3 year exsten

I'm paying the extra..

I don't do it for a lot of purchases but I do for TV's...

Personal preference..that's all

If you watch a lot of sports I would go with the Panny plasma.

Don't buy from Best Buy whatever you do! I just found a 54" Panny Plasma(1080p) for 1000(50" should cost you around 800). All you have to do is watch slickdeals.net. You will get a deal that blows away anything you can get from BB or any other retailer.

If you're really wanting an LCD then go with the Samsumg, I think I saw a 52" on slickdeals the other day for around 1100 or so.

If you're patient you can get a great deal, free shipping and all.

With your obsession for TVs and how fast they are coming out with better technology, I would be surprised if you keep the set for 3-4 years before upgrading. Seems like the extended wouldn't be worth it for you.
