My buddy has got a Panasonic (I think) 48 or 50in plasma. Its beautiful, I'm almost positive he said it cost him $4000.

Bj' s had a full page ad in Boston Paper couple days ago for a 42in Sylvania plasma. There is 4 different prices 1) off Street, 2) member, 3) member without coupon, 4) member with coupon, which is $1099. This seems extremely cheap to me, but don't know for sure, or that much about Sylvania televisions. I have 2 Sony s flat screens, but not plasma s. Wondering if it's good deal, or a shit product.

Thanks

Pros: Picture. Price.
Cons: Sound (use home theater system). Remote (program cable remote as master). Warranty (3 months labor).

I just purchased the Sylvania 6842PE 42 inch HDTV-Ready Plasma Television from Circuit City. The picture is incredible, especially watching Red Sox-Yankees' games. This is truly a wonderful deal when you consider the quality picture you get for the price you pay as compared to other plasma TVs in the market place.
from epinions.com.....and i think its ed not hd...i personnaly like sony hd lcd better..good luck

I was thinking of going the plasma route until I went over to a friends house that had a professional projector installed. It was $1000 for the mounted/framed screen (not a pull-down or flimsy one), $2something for the projector and $800 for the installation, included snaking all the wires, mounting the screen and speakers that he had, mounting the tv and everything. It was an unbelievable HD picture, I couldnt believe it was a projector and the screen was 96 inches - 8 feet! I was going to put a plasma TV in my basement for the upcoming football season but am seriously considering going this route, I just couldnt get over how good the picture looked watching DVDs was even better.

I have often thought about going projector route, but i had no idea quality would be close to plasmas. Do you remember what kind of projector it was?
