This is just my opinion, but at least until football season ends and probably all the way up until March or April, I am going to post up only at larger books. I would advise others to do the same.

Gambler's Avenue and Blue Marlin have both gone under in recent weeks and chances are they won't be the last ones to do so before the end of February. In both cases they were smaller sized books that gave away tremendous bonus offers. Obviously not every book that has a nice bonus will fold, but in my opinion it is better to stick to larger books for a while.

I was going to go book shopping today for a new one, but with this crap happening I think I'll just go back to Pinnacle.

What is considered a "larger book"?

I have Oly right now

along with three locals (one 2 dime max, one dime max, one nickle max)

I want to set up shop with more online books

any thoughts?

I was definitely going to hook up with Canbet

Did they fold because of sons-a-bitches like us spankin' their asses? Hope no one here lost any green... :(

I have used canbet in the past, but they are too sharp for my taste. They don't allow any correlated parlays. :thefinger

I agree with Nick 110%. Also, and this is no disrespect to Jack, but just because there is a sponsor here is no guarantee they will not go under. It means most likely Jack knows the folks running the joints but he is not Kreskin, he cannot forsee their financial future.

I will stick with good advice once given to me long ago. Books that are the flashiest, the most neon on their site, the ones with the largest bonuses and largest reups - stay away.

I will stick with Pinnacle and Oly. They have never done me wrong, consistently offer the best lines and best service. I can forgo a bonus here and there.

Nick, what do you mean Blue Marlin went under in recent weeks, did you know something before yesterday. I made bets with them on Sat.

What's up with in recent weeks?

Keep your balances low and in different books. I've seen companies go under every year that I thought were solid. The same applies to offshore.

Any book can go under, I don't care who they are.

Oly, Pinnacle, and a couple others are fairly safe.

This comes right from their site:

"If I am unable to complete the sale, I will make every attempt to limit individual losses, however; it is important that you know there is NOT sufficient capital to compensate all clients in full. I ask that you continually monitor this website for additional information."

Read that as, "We are in a no lose situation."

or as.......

"as long as the owners gets their fair cut, bimmer, benz, yacht, nice house on the ocean, etc we can give the remaining out to the customers"

I was not privy to any inside information on Blue Marlin but folks who visit other offshore gambling sites would have seen major red flags in regards to that and other books.

Here is the bottom line: This football season has not been kind to books. The competition for post up money is more fierce than ever and giving away big bonuses, low juice and free half points can put a book on the brink when bettors hit the way they have been hitting this football season.
