Rutgers +1.5.......Love this play!

Rutgers is the better team!
1. On offense ....No Question about it...Bonislawski is out at qb for CT but Dj Hernandez is a capable replacement. He was sacked 6 times by cincy I think it was 8 times by G Tech and CT qbs are always under pressure. Now Hernandez is out with a broken wrist This young retooled offensive line cannot protect their qb. 19/43...190yds 2fumbles 1 interception and thats against Cincinatti, a very young team. Ct has the better runners BUT Brian Leanord and Raymell Rice are close.Mike Teel is apparently IN as starting QB at Rutgers and I've heard that he has not lost a game that he started since he was in 7th grade. He is young and this is not the dominant team that he may be used to BUT GS must obviously like him.I believe Hart is fine and available.... just a coaches decision . ........

2. Defense will be a concern for CT! This Rutgers team put up 35 last year against a better CT defense. To make matters worse... CT got banged up against Cincinatti this week and lost several key players. Cinn running backs ran for about 200yds on about 25 carries and they scored 21 second half points v CT. Injuries to starters.. DE Dan Davis did not play (ankle) wideout... Brandon Young did not play (ankle) status?? In game injuries linebacker Danny lansannah (shoulder)...linebacker Taurien Sowell (ankle) cornerback Ernest Cole (forearm) and special teams kick return specialist.. Larry Taylor (knee...may be done for the year. I liked Rutgers before the injuries.......will wait to see who is coming back this week BUT ...patched up D WILL be tested by Rutgers

Rutgers is the dog and I'm on em. They should be the better team on both sides of the ball.

Thanks Swayne,
I was unaware that GS made a permanent switch to Teel (the redshirt freshman) but apparently he has...Anyway, this kid is a winner, he is Rutgers future and I guess that Hart just didn' have the spark???? He's ready if needed... NO matter.....CT is in trouble on both sides of the ball....RU has weapons to give CT depleted D fits. jmho

UConn will be down multiple starters vs. Rutgers

Connecticut's loss Saturday at Cincinnati proved to be a costly one.

Quarterback D.J. Hernandez, starting in place of injured Matt Bonislawski, cracked a bone in his left wrist and will not play this weekend against Rutgers.

And that's just for starters. UConn (4-2, 1-1 Big East) lost at least three more starters in the 28-17 loss, coach Randy Edsall said Sunday.

Cornerback Ernest Cole broke his left arm and will be out several weeks. Return man Larry Taylor injured his knee and linebacker Taurian Sowell suffered an ankle injury.

They also will not play this Saturday and are scheduled for MRIs today. Starting linebacker Danny Lansannah is listed as doubtful with a neck stinger.

Bonislawski is out at least six weeks with a broken collarbone he suffered in the Oct. 7 win over Syracuse. Next on the depth chart behind Hernandez are untested freshmen Dennis Brown and Billy Cundiff.

Edsall wouldn't name the new starter until he had a chance to meet with his staff.

YEARLY DOUBLE

Linebacker Will Gilkison and defensive tackle Carl Howard likely will miss this week's game at Connecticut, according to Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. Gilkison, a senior, missed the Syracuse game with a groin injury. Howard, a redshirt freshman, remains on crutches with an air cast for an ankle injury.

YEARLY DOUBLE

This is the first time Rutgers has beaten Syracuse and Pittsburgh in the same season.

MARGIN OF VICTORY

The 22-point victory over Syracuse was the largest margin of victory on the road since a 40-0 win over Navy in 1992.

STILL COUNTING

Tres Moses and Brian Leonard have each caught passes in 28 consecutive games. These are the seventh-longest streaks in Big East Conference history.

A LEG UP

Jeremy Ito's 51-yard field goal tied for the second longest in Rutgers history with five other players. The longest is 55 yards, made in 1990 by John Benestad.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

By halftime Saturday at the Carrier Dome, Syracuse had produced only three first downs, had fumbled the ball away four times and only had 95 yards in offense.

Thanks IE!
In addition, Rutgers is playing hungry...forced 9 fumbles vs the "Cuse" recovered 5 and had 5 sacks .....D only gave up 230 total yards ..65 on the ground........Granted it was Syracuse but Rutgers maligned D is picking up a head of steam... Will be tough for true freshman Dennis Brown ( I heard he has been named the starter..for CT..

Looks like a solid play but UConn is strong at home and under GS Rutgers hasn't exactly been to solid on the rd.

I'm sitting on a 4.5 point middle opportunity and have no interest yet.
Rutgers reminds me of CT last year....They are REALLY excited about their chances to go to a bowl game. The team is pumped and so is the school... CT, in spite of their 4-2 record is not even thinking that way. Coach Edsall "in 24 years of coaching football...never seen a team so ravaged by injuries" "I don't remember being involved in anything like this"
That said.....CT is at home and Rutgers will start a young qb... who knows?? Rutgers does have the momentum and I just like the play.....even at 3

Update:

Ct is now saying that they expect linebacker, Danny Lansannah to be available (probable) along with wide receiver Brandon Young along with DE Dan Davis (both missed last game).... In addition, the weather is now a questionmark in that it is expected to be raining at gametime...increasing in intensity with wind.. CT's running game with terry Caulley and Cornell Brockington could keep CT in the game if weather gets too bad.. turnovers???
Rutgers freshman stud (Mike Teel) lacks experience was < 50% passing last week threw several that could have been picks but were dropped and only produced 17 points of the 31 Rutgers scored........All factors considered...I still like Rutgers...BUT...will buy my Rutgers +1.5 back with CT +3.5 and play the middle.
