maybe im flat out missing something, and this could be fools gold but i played this at olympic for 1 unit:
1 unit.....rocco baldelli (-120) over bj surhoff
(total bases....1b =1 pts..2b = 2 pts...3b = 3pts..hr = 4 pts)
the only "advantage" surhoff has in this matchup is that he is a lefty facing a righty, whereas baldelli is going righty/right
but aside from that, from a very basic standpoint (and i know this sounds square-ish) but baldelli is hitting .378 right now compared to surhoff's .235
surhoff has 1 homer on the yr. baldelli has yet to hit one.
baldelli has 7 doubles and 2 triples
surhoff has 4 doubles and 0 triples
and at olympic- walks DONT COUNT AS ANYTHING. and thats PERFECT for baldelli, because that son of a b1tch goes up there hacking. hes walked ONE TIME the entire season. so you know youre gonna get your money's worth as far as betting on him in a proposition type situation.
furthermore- baldelli is a right handed version of ichiro in that he turns ground outs into infield singles by legging out routine grounders. the dude flat out busts it down the line.
surhoff is a trillion years old and not likely to get any infield hits.
having said all this- i know damn well i just jinxed baldelli into an 0-5 night with 4 k's and surhoff will hit a 3 run bomb and an rbi double.
but i just think this price is too good to pass up
