Rents are skyrocketing. Recession just around the corner . So far his begging for barrels hasn?t gone so good. They won?t return his call.
Got to give him credit. He kept his promise to stop drilling on public land and to lead us to being fossil fuel free.
Now instead of Obama phones he can give all of us 6ok electric cars?..that is until China seizes the nickel for batteries in Taiwan.

Polling "average Americans" isn't a very sound endeavor when it comes to things like inflation. If 65% of polled Americans said Los Angeles was the capitol of California, that still wouldn't make it true.

Simple definition of inflation:

Inflation occurs when there's an increase in production costs OR when demand for products and services increases faster than supply.

That's pretty much in a nutshell what we have had happen. The supply chain issues put a huge dent in supply, while demand never waned. Low unemployment also has a major role. Having to pay employees more, increases the cost of production. What about the Country "opening back up"? More people headed back to the office, hitting the road, taking vacations......gee, I wonder why gas would go up! (Just as it has every time a situation like this arises.)


Get used to the "adjusted market", because it rarely comes back. It's like the old expression:

"Inflation is paying $15 for a $10 haircut that used to cost $5."

The $5 Trillion Build Back Better bill didn't pass as a $5T bill, did it? Spending hasn't started and if it has, it is going to be spread over 10 years. Tax hikes on corporations and those making over $400k were going to cover the costs.

So, if this hasn't happened yet, how is it causing inflation? You're trying to tell us that supply issues doesn't have an impact but as YYZ points out, it sure as hell does. Things get more expensive when the currency is devalued (controlled by the Fed) and/or the supply can't keep up with demand.

Wayne, I appreciate you coming back in and addressing. You're not going to like what I have to say but if you dig into it, you'll find that I'm not the wild and crazy liberal I'm made out to be. In this forum, I spend the majority of my time on the Republican talking points and the #1 thing I ask is for who's ever to pushing them is to explain them. Skulnik calls me a communist. Cricket whines about me being a know-it-all that talks down to everyone. Read my posts, that's really not the case. If you are going to post nonsense, I'll give you the respect your shitty post deserves.

I've known YYZ personally for over a decade and I didn't even know he was a liberal until the Trump administration came to be. I've always been liberal but not a Democrat until 2016.

With regard to this specific issue, inflation, I'm not denying it exists. I'm not saying it's a good thing. I'm not saying it started when Russia invaded Ukraine. I agree this administration isn't doing anything that I can see about it, but I can't get anyone to explain to me what policy of his caused it. And, when I bring up that inflationary pressure is hurting the rest of the civilized world, NOBODY responds. Nobody. When I ask what specific policy or policies Biden implemented that caused it, I get nothing or I get something that is clearly false. He doesn't control the money supply. He did one stimulus payment to the other guy's two. The other guy put in tariffs on chinese goods that are a small contributor, but that gets ignored. The oil companies are making record profits, that gets ignored. I'm a reasonable person but I'm not gullible. If you are going to float a talking point, expect that I will want it backed up with something plausible. That is, in my mind, the #1 problem in this country. People aren't thinking critically about the crap they are seeing in the media and/or social media, which is why my main tactic is to ask really simple questions like "what did they do to cause it?".
