it's a great question, and one without a "correct" answer. no matter what system you put in, some years it will work great and other years it won't.

personally, i've said ever since they instituted the new system, that they need to go to 8 teams. no more, no less. of course #9 and #10 will bitch about getting left out, but those teams probably don't have a legit shot at winning the championship. however #5 and #6 often do (eventually alabama will stop dominating everyone).

anyway, that means you include the conference champs from the "power 5" and 3 at-large teams.

the playoff is going to suck this year, because the only team with a legit chance to beat alabama got left out. i understand the argument for not including georgia (they had their chance and they blew it like a $5 whore), but they were clearly the 2nd best team in the country this year. and, really, the only team that could match up with the crimson tide.

but to continue down this rabbit hole... how do you determine the at-large teams? and the seeding? strictly by the vegas power numbers? they'd never do that, but it probably makes the most sense. the committee has proven time and again they are not up to the task.

to td jesus' point, i agree that at least the first round should be a home game for the higher seeds. but maybe keep the semis and nc game at the current bowl games. if they lose their meal tickets, there may be an uprising.

oh, and i agree with fla... get back to an 11-game schedule. shit, some of these teams are playing 13, 14, even 15 games.

thank you, that is all. *steps down from his soapbox*

Lots of great stuff here. Really is no correct answer just lots of good opinions,, I?m still trying to figure out what bombs meant by vandy going undefeated beating 4 ranked teams plus bama and people having an issue with it .. been staring at that thinking I?m interrupting what he wrote wrong lol
