Interesting matchups for round 1. Besides the Red Sox in game 1, not individual games stand out to me yet, but definitely playing three of the series.

random thought: does anyone not expect the red sox and yankees to meet again? But I learned my lesson in Round one with Yanks last year. I'll pass and just assume they win, but no dinero.

Red Sox Game 1 -1.5 + 140 x 3. I like Lackey as much as the next guy, but not here in Fenway.

Series Prices:

Cubs -120 x 5. The only thing the cubs can't do is hit lefties. And the Diamondbacks have none of them really. Unless Gonzalez is gonna start or get extensive work out of the pen, the cubs should be at home against all righty pitching. Team of destiny? maybe.....but I still can't understand how the diamondbacks won the west. But they are mostly a young team. Not many have been there and done that. They have a bright future, but I think they lose the series 3 to 1. Don't ask me which game they win.

Red Sox -166 x 4. If Jared Weaver was healthy and dominant they might have a shot, but I don't trust Escobar and certainly not Lackey in Fenway. Has anyone seen Scott Shields numbers at Fenway? You might need an abacus to go that high.

Will also be playing the Rockies against Philly if they hold on tonight, but will be playing the Phillies against the Padres if the Padres come back tonight. Make sense? Probably not, but it does to me.

Any thoughts welcome and best of luck to all

Makes sense. Peavy wouldn't go until game 3 and could only start once. Phils vs Rocks should have some high totals

While the Cubs struggled for most of the yr against lefties, they actually are over .500 the last 10-15 games against them.

BDB -- Since you're on the Cubs series, which I plan to be as well, I was wondeirng your take on this.

Cubs are -120 right now for the series but +124 for game one. Whenever a situation such as this arises, I don't know what is the best way to maximize the numbers in my favor. Take Cubs game one since it's a favorable line to the series, don't take anything and hope for a better adjusted series line after game 1, or just stop overthinking and take the series bet that I think will be a winner?

Sorry to hijack the thread, just was wondering your thoughts on it.

Rockies + 121 series price x 3

Blackman...I understand what you are saying, but not much advice to offer. I think Zambrano is going to win game 1. If I thought Webb would win although I'm not playing it I would wait til after game 1 and take the scrubs. So I guess option 3 of yours is best and not overthink it.

s-Dooley....the AL is definitely stronger. I think all 4 teams will be a favorite over any of the NL teams obviously. -250 is probably a fair line. It will be much higher if the Yanks or Red Sox play a team like the rockies or diamondbacks. They would be correct to be favored over the cubs as well, but there will be so much cub public money if they make the series, the line will be adjusted. To answer your question, I don't think there is much you can do at this point. Laying -250 now might save you some down the road, but unless you are risking heavy coin, probably not worth it. You could take the NL now small and hope the Indians make the series where they would only be small favs over the NL. My advice is to wait.

just a clarification

the d-backs have a lefty starter in doug davis...he will start game 2 and then could either come out of the pen in games 4-5 or start game 5

that said, as someone mentioned earlier, the cubs have done very well vs leftys lately.....however davis shut down the cubs in late aug beating them 6-1.

Hi BDB. Which game do you think the Diamondbacks will win?

Thanks so much....Agent

Completely with you on the Sox series win. I'm also on them for the AL championship and World Series. They do seem to have the pitching lined up, and of course the hitting should be strong enough to help the pitching along. Hoping Big Papi keeps that knee going a while longer. Good luck to you.
