I sucked the last two weeks on a par with Jim Mora's last Indianapolis team. But it's the playoffs for me.

San Diego(-6) over New York Jets (1.50*)
- - Both AFC Wildcard games look like stronger plays to me than the NFC games . . . Bubba's great stuff on this game in the NFL Matchups Forum practically addresses jot-for-jot my thinking on the critical questions behind these teams matching up in this game, excepting the weather . . . The Jets are certainly a capable foe in quite a few areas, but I'll ride with the chances of Marty Schottenheimer's most magical team putting their stamp on this game.

St. Louis (+4 & +3') over Seattle (1*)
- - In the big games, matchups, from head coaches at the top, through the lineup and down to roster depth, come to the forefront, rather than trying to figure out the rhythms and nuances of the opponents in the midst of a lengthy season, but with teams as suspect as these, matchups might not be as outcome determinative (just a thought) . . . With HC Martz at the helm, the Lambs IMO have shown surprising resilience and potential through a typically inexplicable campaign . . It's not the style of a Holmgren team to find itself infused in January with a new chemistry and spirit that was inexplicably MIA in the 2nd half of the season . . . St. Louis matches up well against Ray Rhodes' underachieving defense . . . I can't even accept that Seattle is more likely to win than St. Louis, but I believe it is more likely than not that Seattle will have their hands full throughout.

Indianapolis(-9') over Denver (1.50*)
- - Indy has visibly demonstrated something very substantial and relentless about their season since opening night at New England, a fact further reflected in some extremely noteworthy defensive stats. Denver is a great draw IMO if any spark is really necessary to set off Indy in the playoff lid lifter, and the call here is that Denver is overmatched in this spot rather than Indy being vulnerable.

TEASER Green Bay(-' & Ov45) vs. Minnesota (1*)
- - Touchdowns will be scored, and points will be the yardstick for each successful possession. Hard for me to see Green Bay being held to less than 23 points, or the loser getting less than 20, and only a sustained drive through the 4th quarter that produces less than a touchdown would seem capable of keeping the game below the 51 point total . . . The Packers arrive at this spot as a good and purposeful Brett Favre led team that has exceeded most people's expectations to some degree, and that team will make plays at Lambeau today that will tax Culpepper's ability to achieve Tice's grand design.
