NFL YTD: 32-25 (+5.80*)
NCAA YTD: 42-52 (-11.95*)
NCAA Bowls through 12/28/08: 1-2 (-1.75*)

Baltimore(-3)(-120) over Miami (2*)
- - Two proven ways to take down a playoff caliber Baltimore team in a big matchup are either a rifle armed QB that can fit a ball in almost any seam, or a defense that rises right close to the Ravens level. This year, the Ravens have also found a swagger on offense that has added a bounce to their defense. The bow on the package is the way Baltimore picked themselves up off the mat after the Pittsburgh game . . . The signature of this Miami team is that they finish - finish plays, finish games, finish the season . . . Baltimore moves on against the Dolphins with their lunchpail work ethic and the pedestrian arm of Pennington at the helm.

Philadelphia(-3) over Minnesota (1.5*)
- - Minnesota thinks they have the right stuff.

Arizona(-1) over Atlanta (1.25*)
- - I look at the NY Giants game to see how well this Arizona team has played this season when in their element. As for the coaching staff, I've had my fairly high expectations met ever since the Pittsburgh game in 2007. And for good or bad, the reality is the NFC West champs have been doing some waiting for this game, but hit the right tempo last week . . . I never undervalued QB Matt Ryan at Boston College, but I managed some surprise at his rookie season while at the helm in Atlanta . . . IMO, there is nothing THAT great for or about Atlanta in this spot, and no way I would back Atlanta if they were playing the Chargers today. By the same token, I believe the value lies with Arizona.

San Diego(+1') over Indianapolis (1*)
- - My strongest opinion on this game is that it will be the best game of the weekend; I really want to tease SD(+7') with Phil/Minn(Ov35), but I have more confidence in SD(+1') than I do in any of the available totals, and I already have enough on Baltimore as a side . . . The San Diego offense is burning hotter than the Indy team IMO, and QB Rivers will be making plays throughout that give San Diego more than a good opportunity in the stretch run of this game. The play of RB Tomlinson last Sunday night was a revelation and I would certainly like more of the same, but if that doesn't materialize, Rivers will lead like a snubbed Pro Bowler and go to the right options . . Coming into the game I like the dynamic of the home team coming from nowhere far better than the visitor grinding through the 4th quarter week after week for a prolonged winning streak; IMO, Indy already used on of those grinds to earn some measure of revenge for last year's playoff ouster . . . Just an opinion.

Cheers!, Mr. Thong. Now please cover up that avatar.

NFL Playoffs: 4-0 (+5.75*)
NFL Regular Season: 32-25 (+5.80*)
NCAA YTD: 42-52 (-11.95*)
NCAA Bowls through 1/3/08: 9-9 (-1.75*)

New York Giants(-4) over Philadelphia (1.5*)
- - Early in the Phil/Minn telecast, one of the FoxTV announcers reported that DC Jim Johnson was never more confident of his defense coming into a playoff game/matchup, and no doubt they played at a very high level . . . Minnesota's defense got after it, too, but Minnesota at home did not play playoff caliber football, with QB Tarvaris Jackson tossing airborne wishes, RB "Famine, Famine, Feast" Peterson watching on the sidelines because he can't do his job in protections, and HC Brad Childress on the sidelines looking guilty about the fraud being perpetrated. . . . The defending champs are rested after finishing the season 7-3 against an NFL record 10 consecutive teams with winning records, and IMO found their groove while wrapping up the No. 1 seed by beating No. 2 seed Carolina in Week 16 ( http://www.startribune.com/sports/v...8cyaiU9PmP:QiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiU ) . . . Philadelphia is somewhat dangerous and deserves respect, but IMO the value lies with the team to beat.

Caroilina(-10) over Arizona (1.5*)
- - I've had strong suspicions most of the season, and Monday night of Week 14 against Tampa eliminated any doubts in my mind that this is HC John Fox's best team, an opinion that was only reinforced in the final two weeks against the Giants and Saints. Their defense and killer instincts need to shine accordingly, but I know I will not be betting against Carolina in this spot.

After this weekend, only 3 more football games to cap and enjoy. Big Ones, but only 3 more after tomorrow.

Tennessee(-3)(+100) over Baltimore (1.5*)
- - I'm off the mark in my capping if the rested and fresh Titans defense doesn't make QB Flacco significantly uncomfortable in this game, in a big change from their first encounter . . . Old NFC QB Collins is trained to make use of his options such as playmaking TE Bo Scaife in January matchups like this ( http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090110/SPORTS01/901100346/1027 ) . . . . . . And FWIW, the press clippings and media talk has been too one-sided on this here Judgment Day to be ignored as a possible and/or actual intangible impacting the emotional pitch of either and/or both teams . . . HC Jeff Fisher with this team under his saddle will be carrying my cash today.

The site becomes available at the last moment . . .

"Let a team hang around" . . . the Ravens would make a poor choice of an opponent for overcoming that cliche.

TEASE San Diego(+12) over Pittsburgh with Carolina(-3') over Arizona (1*)
- - I'll have options tomorrow if Carolina takes care of their business, and time for a few comments on San Diego vs. Pittsburgh as well.

NFL Playoffs: 4-4 (-0.20*)
NFL Regular Season: 32-25 (+5.80*)
NCAA YTD: 42-52 (-11.95*)
NCAA Bowls through 1/8/08: 12-9 (+2.25*)

Philadelphia(-3)(-125) over Arizona (1*)
- - I can make a case for either 9 win team being on their way to the Super Bowl. The ONLY piece I'm 99.8% sure of is that Arizona has not come close to being matched up against a Jim Johnson defense playing at this level for a 15 round title fight; 60 minutes from knowing what that means.

Playoffs: 5-5 (-0.45*)

Arizona(+7)(-120) over Pittsburgh (1*)
- - Back and forth, back and forth, I'll go with my first instinct from two weeks ago . . . I'll take Whisenhunt's hot and confident Cardinals to be anything but an easy out.

Much thanks to all the football cappers.

Same time next year. :toast:
