Plays against bad teams

This week bodes well for betting against some of the worst teams in the NCAA.

Army might be the worst. They are an average I-AA team. UCONN could have beaten them by 60 last week if they wanted to. Rutgers is improving, beat Army 44-0 last year and is only a six point favorite. I will bite and easily lay the 6.

Rice is another bad team year after year and already got pummelled this year. Duke honestly did not look good against UVA, but they are improving and welcome a win against a Division I school. They are laying 10 and will win by 20.

Kansas and Wyoming is reversed this year. Wyoming has a strong history, but is not well equipped this year. Ok State took it easy on them in the second half. Kansas is a traditional bottom dweller, but their opening day loss to Northwestern looks better now after the AirForce game last week, and they showed some promise against UNLV. I will take the points, but won't need them.

I will also contintue to bet on UCONN until they lose and will likely take W. Michigan and Wake Forest, who has the one of the best coaches in the country that no one has heard of.

Good Luck!

Not so fast, my friends.

Don't be surprised if this game is a lot closer than you think.

I'm not betting it, but if I had to, I'd lean to Army +.

But, I've been wrong before.

Thanks.

I am adding Colorado to the mix. Just think WaSU is deflated after last week and that Colorado is going to continue to improve.

speaking of bad teams......

speaking of bad teams......

Whenever I play blackjack in Vegas, the only time I ever double down is when I've got 10 or 11 AND the dealer has a 5 or 6 showing. That way I'm giving myself 2 chances to win - either I end up with a very good hand, or the dealer busts - but I cash either way. This week, I'll be making 2 plays, not only where I think one team is pretty good, but this is more a play against a very bad team. This week I really like:

Akron - 20 over E Mich.

The fact that Akron is 0-2 (they should be 1-1, or could even be 2-0 at this point) gets us a little extra value. This is a team that can obviously score and cover the large number. E Michigan isn't the worst team in I-A football (I'll still give that honor to Buffalo), but they're close. They gave up 34 points to Western Illinois last week, and only managed 4 field goals. Akron will run all over these guys and score at will 49-10

Boise St - 20.5 @ Idaho

This is a Boise St. team that has an excellent QB (Dinwiddie) and has no qualms about running it up, especially against in-state teams (as witnessed in last week's 62-0 defeat of Idaho St). I really don't like laying 3 TDs on road teams, but I don't consider this road game a huge disadvantage for Boise. (When they get on a plane and fly to Hawaii, that's another story). Idaho ranks right up (down?) there with Buffalo and E Michigan, unless you think an 8-5 loss to E Washington is something to feel good about.

So laying the Ace and Jack in both of these games isn't really a big deal this week, as I think we win both of these games because the bad teams will just bust!

mj -- like em both and agree totally on the Akron angle -- they showed they can put up good numbers against a pretty solid Wisconsin team...can't say enough bad things about the job Woodruff has done at E. Mich -- at one point he was the offensive coordinator for the Univ. of Washington (he is Don James son-in-law) and the Alumni nearly ran him out of town after about 4 games -- After the start to this year, I don't feel that he has anyone's attention on that team -- What a mess!!!

Idaho just has no defense whatsoever and Boise has done a phenominal job getting athletes into their program because they absolutely light it up on offense -- don't see much changing this year as I agree that Dinwiddie is a quality QB -- loss of Forsey doesn't hurt as much as the major losses to the O-Line -- Nonetheless, if there is a team for the O-Line to work out the kinks against, its IDAHO....Also, and sadly, there is an Idaho player that remains in serious condition at a Seattle hospital due to an injury suffered during the first game of the season -- you never know how these types of things can have an effect on young kids -- they obviously looked like they were somewhere else during their game against E. Washington...

Thanks MJ, you convinced me on Boise, still not sure about Akron.

Seriously considering NC State this week, I have a feeling that OSU is going down. Any thoughts?

Good Luck this weekend!

One last addition, adding SC+ against my better judgement, but capper I respect loves this game.

Also. played Uconn on the moneyline. Have to stay with these guys until they burn me.

Good Luck!

Officially adding NC St+10 and a play on the ML+300.

NC State has been thinking about this game since last year and they will be ready to play, despite injuries. Ohio State has not looked good at all this year and has some problems on the offensive side. The line has not looked good, so the running game has suffered. NC State's defense will stop the run and force the pass. You can look at all the stats and angles you want, but the bottom line is that NC State will score points and I just don't think Ohio State can keep up.

NC State 24 Ohio State 17
