Sabres/Caps - It will be interesting to see if the Caps can now get some momentum going getting 3 out of a possible 4pts. I just cant trust them until they can show me some consistency. Sabres on the other hand have been a big disappointment for me to start this year.

Pens/Sens - This game was quite boring to watch.....all the games in a short period really showed, nobody had any jump! Both teams had their chances to win this one. Sens will a little out of sorts with their lines all juggled up with Alfie out. Pens are lethal in the shootout......Neal, then Crosby and then Malkin in that order.......3 goals!

Habs/Devils - Habs youth will show this season after blowing a 3rd period lead but they recovered for a nice win. Soft on the back end will do in this Habs team at times.

Philly/TB - Goaltending......that is all this one boils down too. Philly needs to address it in a hurry......but then again it's something everyone has been saying about this team for years!

Hawks/Wings - I really thought the Hawks look tired last night. They did just enough for the win but watch for them to have a letdown very soon and lose their first game.

Wild/Blues - Wild deserved far better in this game. Their number line is dynamite - Heately/Parise/Koivu. Blues remind me alot of the Bruins......physical.....little youth and some nice vets.....great goaltending. They should learn from their early exit in the playoffs last year.

NYI/Jets - Man this Jets team doesnt quit at home. Second game in a row at home, they were down 2 goals and came back to win. NYI are quite young and had a couple of bad defensive breakdowns.....but both goals were nice efforts on the part of the Jets.

Nucks/Sharks - Nucks D did them in......plain and simple. Vancouver couldnt recover from a bad first period. Sharks have a very nice defense though.....love their pairings!

1. Seems to be a trend so far this year, where the Canucks come out very flat in the 1st period. Sometimes they can weather the storm, last night they didn't.

2. 5 or 6 posts aside, the Canucks did not generate many quality scoring chances. So if their powerplay is not clicking then :scared

3. I'm impressed with Schroeder's play, and Schneider is looking more comfortable in net.

4. PK blows, they gotta get this figured out ASAP

But their PP has won a few games this year.....like you said, without the PP they are in tough. This team lacks an identity. I would be surprised Vigneault is back next year.

Canes - ML(+105) for 2 Units
Bruins is a far different team on the road and the Canes always seem to give them fits. The back up for the Bruins was solid in his few games last year but it also adds to the value here with Carolina. Under might be worth a play here as Boston will tighten up even more without Rask in goal. Carolina won all 4 games last year too!

Dallas line seems quite low.......thinking this is one game CLB thinks they can win and will bring a solid effort at home. Yotes are playing a tired Preds team....4th game of their roadie. Worth a shot tonight......for the Yotes even with Johnson in goal. Teams tend to really tighten up defensively when a kid is making his first start.......something to keep in mind.

I'm on the Yotes tonight for all the reasons you state. Good luck with the Canes pick!

LA - ML(-135) for 2 Units
Nucks are not a great road team, while the Kings are very good at home.......sitting there rested while Nucks are playing 3 in 4 nights on the road and 4 in 6 nights overall. Nice spot here!

Funny you say this.......I was logging on here to post the exact same thing. There are teams that you tend to stay away from as the season goes, but man.........9 days into the season and I am going to have Carolina on this list! What a listless 1st period by these jokers. Their goaltending is doing them in too........as some point Cam Ward needs to steal a game or two for his team.
