Avs/Sharks - Greiss showed me alot in goal in his first start. PP was dynamite again for the Sharks going 3 for 6 and outshot the Avs badly......43-24. Marleau has been an absolute beast......8 goals in 4 games. Sharks are definitely a team to watch, such a nice mix of young players and vets.
Leafs/NYR - Leafs blew another lead for the 2nd game in a row, this time in the 3rd period. NYR really asserted themselves in the final 20 min. It really looked like men among boys in that 3rd period. Gaborik was out of his mind notting 2G and 1A in the 3rd and 4pts. in total. When you get outshot 42-17, you arent going to win many of those games and that was yet another reason why the Leafs ended up on the wrong end of the score.
Lets see if the Rangers can build on a win.
Hawks/Jackets - Secondary scoring got it down for Chicago and CLB showed why they are a few years away from contending for a playoff spot. The Jackets just lack depth everywhere and when the Hawks wanted to they toyed with CLB.
Flyers/Panthers - Well this one stunned me......big time, hands down! Flyers seem to be playing better minus some key players. Florida has now lost 4 in a row after winning on opening night but this time the Flyers physical play really was a determining factor. Very few Panthers players wanted to mix it up physically. Florida actually outshot an opponent but Theodore got yanked.......Panthers were outhit and outplayed in every category. Briere returned but only played 14 min.......mind you it was all secondary scoring for the Flyers!
Blues/Stars - Blues played yet again another sound road game. Whenever I look at their boxscore, they always have fewer giveways........which says alot about this well coached team. The little things go a long way for STL. Nice to see Redden get his first goal of the year and first in a few years since just recently being bought out by NYR. He has brought a super steady presence to the Blues blueline, such a nice addition. Stars really hurt offensively not having Jagr and Roy in the line up.
Kings/Yotes - Kings big forwards feasted on a small Yotes defense. Yotes defense is mostly finesse and dont have that edge or size, which is why that match up favored the Kings big time. Kopitar got it going....finally and the Yotes are struggling right now as they arent getting the goaltending that took them soooo far last year in the playoffs.
Oilers/Flames - I think the Flames last game out against the Nucks gave them a bit of confidence as they started out this game very strong and never looked back. They outplayed Edm. for large chunks of the game and got contributions from all 4 lines, something they will need to do if they plan on winning a few more games.
