I am on the 3rd day of gout medicine, I think it is finally working. At least I hope. I have had some bad gout attacks in my life but this is the worst one. I thought I had blown out my knee, didn't even think of the gout at the time because I have a bad knee. When I woke up Sat, I went to Seneca Allegany for my daughters birthday. I could hardly walk. Used a cane. Bet 5 games at noon Sat they all won, hooked them up all together. Added E Car at 3 oclock at the tail end, added with Tenn at night. all 3 , 4, 5, 6 teamers and flats left after noon games went final. cashed what I could. I lost last game I added C Fla didn't cover. I left the rest of tickets with my daughter to cash . I left in pain. When I got home found out I had more tickets on E Car in my pocket. Now I got to drive back. I haven't gone to work all week. I was able to go to Dr's office Thur. So we will see. I should not have bet this game last night.

If anybody was at Seneca Sat between 11 and 4 in the sportsbook the guy with the cane was me. That sportsbook is small there.

Have been living with gout for 25 plus years. Are you on allopurinol daily or colchicine for a flare up?
Ever since I started taking allopurinol daily I have not had more than 1-2 flare ups a year. I recommend the tart cherry extract from Vitamin store and organic apple cider vinegar. Gave up beer for bourbon and that has also helped. Good luck getting the attacks under control. They are damn painful.

Lowell, I am on colchicine. I been taking it on and off for a long time. I got my first attack when I was about 30. I used to take it every day for years for a while. I am 72 now so I have fighting this shit for years.. I used to get them more often when I was drinking heavy. When I drank whiskey I got them more often than drinking beer. I swear this summer I spent 20$ a week on cherries, that is greatest natural healer. I am Italian so if I get a acidy tomato sauce I am in trouble. I love my pasta. I tried that cherry juice last summer my daughter sent me a case from amazon. I laughed my ass off. I told her what is this a lifetime supply. I tried it, it is hard to drink. AND I LOVE CHERRIES!! I may have to give it another try.

lowell, you have had it so then you know how much pain I was in. It is starting to go away. My Dr took x-rays and said Ray, you got a sack or whatever he called it behind your knee and.... blah blah. I said just give me the f-ing script and let me out of here

Once your attack goes away get on daily dose of allopurinol but only after attack is gone. My rheumatologist
has me take 2 colchicine if I feel a tingle of upcoming attack, wait an hour and then take another pill. That seems to stop flare up. Capzasin cream on the swollen joints also has helped me. Drink as much water as you can.
I am 72 also and am tired of joint issues. Had second hip replacement this summer and am back playing golf.
Good luck.
