Boise has not been rolling through the 2003 season like the 2002 juggernaut, and the recent explosion was uncorked against some hapless opposition. But I'm not buying if you try to show me there is nice value in getting a few points to oppose the visitor in their national spotlight game of the season against a certain school known as BYU, as though BYU is the 2003 team with the class that is poised to kick it up a notch.

It's not my style to get cute, so I'll call it prudent, and play it like this:

Going on two seasons now, when USC has better motivation or a good spot, it?s been a one way street - BIG. Men of Troy: I?m with you again. Pay backs or revenge are not usually big in my capping, especially among familiar rivals, but this game is more about being denied the Rose Bowl (or Sugar) again this year, as opposed to last year . . . The Cougars in this spot might want to dial up a performance with less mistakes than is in their resume.

I DO think Virginia is sitting on a big game . . . That?s precisely why I was on Pitt last week . . . You guys better play ball.

No one expected Nebraska to get it right this year. The commitments and changes in the off season have paid huge dividends beginning with the very first game. They ain?t afraid of the road- in fact, they look to prove themselves there . . . Nebraska had a score to settle with Iowa State off a 36-14 whipping that was a huge blemish in last year?s disaster. After racing to a 28-0 lead last week, I think it?s telling that QB Jammal Lord checked out early in the second quarter (and I assume the rest of the team stayed around long enough until it was evident their was no real danger under the young backup QB). . . Look for Nebraska to play tough for 60 minutes, producing momentum generating big plays of its own and having answers for those of it?s opponent . . . If nothing else, a live dog.
