I'm getting married soon and I've been put in charge of planning our honeymoon. We want to go somewhere warm/tropical. I was thinking USVI, Aruba, Costa Rica, etc. I would also like the possibility of going somewhere with a sportsbook....imagine that :D

I know this topic has come up before on here b/c I remember seeing it. Anyway, I would REALLY REALLY appreciate any advice or tips on a tropical location that has a sportsbook....or even one that doesn't if it's a good place.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

PS- I'm going to vegas with the boys next week too (Wed. - Sun). I'm staying at the Hardrock. It's my first trip to Vegas. Any recommendations for things to do/see in Vegas would be appreciated too.

first---------CONGRATS!!

i dont know about the tropics or books

but i know a little bout vegas

for adult entertainment: Crazy Horse 2 or Cheetahs for late night....afternoon, definitely go to Olympic Garden

there are many shows at the Casinos.......depends on what your boyzzzz want to see.......

Just went to Vegas recently and heard not to good things about MGM's La Femme...so you might want to avoid that one

have a great time and a fantastic honeymoon and marriage!!!

I think the hotel shows are somewhat geared towards couples, you know what I mean. Kind of artsy. If it's just guys go to Olympic Garden or one of the clubs.

There's a sportsbook in the Bahamas on one side of paradise island that I think is called Crystal Palace and you can wager on the NFL and the NCAA.

I just got back from my bachelor party in Vegas last weekend. There's a club at the Rio called Bikini's which isn't that great, but when you leave the club there's a whole pit of blackjack tables where the dealers are wearing "bikini's." The dealers are hot and the jugs have all been bought, but it is without a doubt the best blackjack tables I've ever been at. Watch your cards, though, as some of the beauties can't count very well but it's well worth it.

Can't go wrong with Crazy Horse, Too as a strip club. The girls all fly in from California and are amazing.

Congrats! Just got married a month ago.

We went to St. Lucia and had one hell of a week! It was awesome. My suggestion is to not go somewhere so far away for a week long honeymoon trip, though, because you lose 1-2 days travelling. I would hit one of the closer islands. I have been to the Grand Caymans, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas , St. Lucia, St. Kitts/Nevis, Cancun, Rio de Janero (not an island obviously but same type of trip) and Tortola (and around BVI) on seperate occassions. Basically, it is not the island that matters, it's your accommadations (sp). There are great deals all over the internet. One piece of advice: When you find the deal that you like, call a travel agent just for the hell of it to see if they have anything better. I did this for our trip and saved an additional 25% over the best deal that I hunted down.

We went the all-inclusive route. I think we probably spent a little more money this way, but it was worth it not to have the hassle of paying for things all of the time. I only recommend going this route if you are a heavy drinker! This is where you can recoupe some of your cost. The food was not as good as I expected. I have never been on a cruise, but people say the food is great. I was expecting the same from this, but this was not the case. The food wasn't bad, but it was not over the top great, either. I would recommend doing a honeymoon this way.

Crazy Horse II is the biggest scam game in Vegas. Watch everything that is said while you are there. I do not recommend highly intoxicated out of towners going here. They prey on us like starving hyennas (sp)!

Sounds like you have a story. The Horse does have the best kickbacks with cabbies to get people there, but the quality of the women there gets stronger every year.

But I am curious on what happened to you. No champagne in the champagne room? :D

Do have a story and have heard the story from several other groups. There is no doubt that the women in there are GREAT to look at. I may type the story up later but don't feel up to typing that much right now.

Cruises are great. There is so much to do, and you get to hit several islands that way. Also you have a casino right on the boat. Food is great. You won't drink as much on your honeymoon as you might think. (We didn't :brows: ) Keep that in mind when checking out the all inclusives. We've been to Sandals all inclusive too. It was pretty nice, but the cruise was less than half the price! Here are my three recommedations in order:

Congrats! ;)

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Dawg,
Would love to hear it, when your up to it. Wonder if it will resemble our Story from the "Horse";)
Franky

DONT DO SANDALS OR THE BAHAMAS.
Highly recommend the Cruises, if you have never done it and are worried about sea sickness, dont, that time of year should be ok(lets see when was this honeymoon). Anyway, the casinos on board have all table games and slots, but no sports books, and it will cost a fortune to make phone calls:eek:
Tell your bookie your going to be busy:D lol.
The best food we had was on Celebrity. Carnival caters more to the young party crowd, dont know your age, Royal Carribean is in between, stay away from Holland America where the average age is about 73!!:p
I have done all the islands too, but I gotta run. If you need more you can get my email from Jack.

Will post the story, Franky.

Wondering why you say not to do Sandals. That is where we went for our honeymoon and really enjoyed. You can see my knocks on it above, but overall it was a really good experience.

First off. Congrats to you and the future Mrs. USC GC! I got hitched on Sept 1, 2001

I don't know if you've considered Mexico but I've been to Puerta Villarta & Cabo San Lucas. I went to both places for spring break :brows: :drinky: 7/8 yrs ago so I'm not sure if I'm much help.

Cabo was better IMO than PV. Weather, bars, beaches. I don't remember the sportsbooks in Cabo but the ones in PV were OK.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for all of the well wishes guys, I really appreciate them. I was lucky enough to find a great girl.

Thanks also for all of the input. I think I've narrowed it down to (1) The Radisson in Aruba; (2) Caneel Bay in St. John; (3) The Ocean Club on Paradise Island; and (4) The Sands on Turks & Cacos..sp?

If anyone has any personal experiences with any of these resorts/locations I welcome your input.

(ps- both Paradise Island & Aruba have casinos) :brows:
