"NC State upsets No. 8 Georgia Tech"
-------current headline on Yahoo Sports

"Wisconsin SHOCKS number 15 Michigan State."
------WCBS Newsradio 880 New York at 7:45 p.m.

PLEASE...PLEASE....PLEASE......public, and squares, and poll followers, and clueless media members.................PLEASE do NOT stop saying and writing things like the above examples!

You all have put a lot of $$$ in the pockets of MJers over the years.

Please keep thinking that when a ranked team loses to an unranked team, that is an UPSET, a STUNNER, and a SHOCKER!

(Do any of these folks even know that both Wisky and NCSU were FAVORED!) (see note about NCSU at bottom)

I don't care......their ignorance is our blessing! These headlines don't annoy me.....in fact, I LOVE them! Keep'em coming for years and years. Keep believeing that polls are like commandments and true reflections of a team's talent.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
unranked favorite or pick'em (opening line) over the ranked team

Wisky -1 (win)
NCSU -1 (win)

Remember...Vegas had NCSU as -1 on opening line....public made them an underdog.
WVU was not a play, because they were still ranked No. 24 in the coaches poll.
System is hitting over 80 percent for season....and makes money almost every year in college hoops and football.

My three favorite words in college sports: SHOCK, STUN, UPSET.

I'll keep the update in this thread....to keep it easier.

There's only been 1 play this week so far...and it won....DePaul -3 over No. 25 Marquette........

Using my specific parameters.........this angle is now 13-3 on the year.

I'm about to make my plays on the overnight line when they are ready....be back shortly, as we might have 2 or 3 plays on Saturday.

any idea how well this angle has done when the home team has been ranked lower than the visiting team, but still a pk or favored? see that this was the case last sun. with w. vir and b.c.(which would have lost). it was also the case with miss st and bama last week(which would have won).
today:
wf #3 in both polls
cincy #20 and #18 pk(open)

tex #15 and #11
okl #18 and #21 -7(open)

any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks and gl

2 excellent questions by Trizzle and Primate....

Trizzle------no, Michigan -1 is NOT a play today, because Wisconsin actually opened as a 1-point favorite. I use Vegas' opening line....because they know more than they public.

Primary.......I began using my guidelines in 1999, and the question you asked was one I asked myself over and over and over again at the time.
However, through research, I discovered that this was NOT conducive to making money.
The "lower-ranked favorite over the higher-ranked team" has historically been a wash...at best. With the vig, you'll probably end up losing money by doing this.
Stick with pick'em over favored teams that are not on any Top 25 list over teams that are ranked in at least one of the polls.
Hope this helps.

Useing my system this is a dangerous game . If Rrovidence was getting 3 or more points they would be a play for me . But at -1 I think the odds are 50-50 .

Wish u luck with your pick.
