POD BOYZ PLAY OF DAY FRIDAY JANUARY 18

The resurgent Wildcats are at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly to take on the Xavier Musketeers at 8:30 Eastern. Villanova is -10.5/138 on the opening line. Xavier is 11-7. Actually, performing better than most figured after they graduated just about all of their scoring. They are 3-2 in the Big East with wins over Butler, Georgetown and DePaul.
They have pretty balanced scoring with Marshall and Scrugs at 13 ppg. Hankins and Jones score at 10 ppg. These two guys both have size advantages over the Wildcats. Rumor is Quentin Goodin may return from a knee injury would help at the guard position. Both clubs have been winning lately with second half comebacks. Nova?s advantage here is on the defensive end.
The ?Cats keep improving and certainly are more talented than the Musketeers who are something like 1-10 vs. Nova. The key to their hopefully March success as well as this game will be in the hands of Freshman Guard Jahvon Quinerly. If he can perform at PG, he opens up more scoring possibilities for Booth and Gillespie. Additionally, defensively, he?s the quickest guy on the court.
Villanova scored 90 last out vs. Creighton but I just don?t see that happening. The public may bet the total up so I will wait before pulling the trigger on my recommended play: a Nova/Under teaser.
