Nova Report
The 16-6 Villanova Wildcats have a date with #17 UCONN (15-5) at high noon eastern at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. Nova is-5/128.
Both clubs are coming off of losses. Nova was run out of town in Milwaukee by Marquette while UCONN dropped a 59-55 decision to Creighton on their home court. Neither team shot well with UCONN notably shooting under 30%. Will both teams return to shooting form?
For the Huskies, they are led by Senior Guard, RJ Cole (15.9 ppg) but their claim to fame is their defense. They play slow (259th in tempo), have a suffocating interior defense with 6?9? Whaley and Sanogo leading the way and a pair of lengthy 6?6? forwards in Martin and Jackson. Did I mention they are the only team to beat Auburn?
They are not the best offensively minded club ranking 238th in shooting 2?s and 103rd in 3?s. They are prone to scoring droughts and don?t create a lot of turnovers. Blocked shots: 5th nationally.
As for the Cats, by now everyone knows depth is a problem. With Antoine out with an ankle and Moore twisting his ankle last out, there are even more concerns. I expect Moore to play pretty much at full speed.
What will happen: I think these clubs will surprise everyone and shoot well this afternoon. I even think UCONN May press the pace a little, especially if they think Moore isn?t 100%. This is a HUGE game both in Conference and Nationally. Expect fouls, expect bodies flying all over the court. Expect Nova to somehow come out with a win (likely via free throws where they dominate).
