The Cats are in the round of 32 and doing battle with the Ohio St. Buckeyes fresh off a nice win over Loyola-Chicago. The game tips at 2:45 pm in Pittsburgh. Nova is -5/132.5.
Ohio State is led by 6?7? EJ Liddell who dominates the interior both offensively and defensively. Malaki Branham at 6?5? is their other scoring threat. However, Kyle Young has been making some noise recently, also. The Buckeyes like to play at a slower tempo as does the Wildcats. Their strength is inside the paint offensively. Their weakness is defending the 3. In fact, they are built similar to Delaware (Nova?s last opponent) but with better athletes.
For Villanova, they will throw an assortment of defenders at Liddell as he is a nightmare matchup. They will play their typical inside-outside, post and dish offense. They?ll need to shoot well from 3 today to move on.
What Will Happen: Nova will see a steady diet of Liddell who will surely look to pile fouls up on the Cats. Defensively, the Buckeyes will attempt to force Nova to take jump shots in the paint and not get to the rim. The Cats will pressure the Ohio State guards who are prone to turn it over. Nova will also shoot from deep early and often. The Wildcats have the experience and proper matchups in this one to move on.
