But not a gimmee since Kent State wants to beat their rivals (campuses about 11 miles apart) with Mark Carney the new head coach and good young QB in Dru DeShields. May try to middle by buying the Flashes up to +8.5 or so, maybe hooked with Raptors. Update: No middle, simply cannot trust Kent State on the road this year, especially with their recent bad showings.

The 1-1 Villanova Wildcats are on campus to battle the 1-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers. The line at this moment is Nova-18.5/159.5. The line opened at -20.5…I guess some sharps like Sacred Heart. Tip is 7:00 pm eastern on ESPN +.
The Pioneers, after crushing the Merchant Marine, tired out in the final minutes at Duquesne and lost 92-80. They were picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC. They are led by 6’9” Senior, Anquan Hill (18 ppg, shooting 60%). Dashon Gittens averages 17 ppg while Nyle Ralph-Bever averages 13.5 ppg and shoots 42% from 3. Their point guard, Mekhi Connor has struggled so far averaging 4.5 ppg and committing too many turnovers. Their bench goes 3 deep with 6’9”Abdou Yadd being the best scorer at 9.5 ppg. They like to run but turn the ball over too much and are likely to be out rebounded. They also average just 24% from 3. Nova is not much better from 3.
For the Cats, Bryce Lindsay (23.5 ppg) and Duke Brennan (17.5 rebounds pg and 12.5 ppg) have excelled. Acaden Lewis after a bad first game came alive in Nova’s 20 point win vs. Queens as he scored 21. Matt Hodge also showed some spark. Tyler Perkins needs to get going. Additionally, Gapare needs to quit fouling out and help Brennan on the Boards. In this game, Nova needs to improve defensively and hit some 3’s.
This is another game (like the last) where Nova’s depth will win out. Sacred Heart commits a lot of fouls and turnovers which Villanova can capitalize on. I have no clue why the line dropped so will hedge with a teaser. Taking a 5 point teaser: Nova-13.5/Over 154.5.
