Another HUGE matchup in the Big East as 10th ranked Villanova travels to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to take on the 19th ranked Butler Bulldogs. Tip is 6:30 pm eastern. Both teams are coming off of stinging home losses: Nova to Creighton and Butler to Providence.
The Bulldogs have struggled offensively ever since guard Aaron Thompson went out with a wrist injury. He is not expected to play tonight though his status is quoted as day to day. This puts pressure on Kamar Baldwin and Sean McDermott to carry the offensive load though Nze has been coming up big lately. Last out, Butler went 1-14 from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats have lost four games this season. In all four, their opponent shot over 50% from the field while they shot below 40%. Such was the case Saturday vs. Creighton. Both clubs are due to hit some shots and both clubs need to ratchet up defensively. Last out, both Bey and Robinson-Earl missed shots they typically make. Defensively, there were too many lapses in communication.
So, who will make the necessary adjustments and execute better to pull out a win tonight? The line is Butler-2.5/130.
My bet will be a 5 point teaser taking Nova+7.5/Over 125. Have to believe it?s a close game and can see the points piling up on foul shots towards the end of the game.
