All Things Considered, March 16, 2006 ? Justin Wolfers, an economist at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, has analyzed 44,000 college basketball games and says he has found statistical evidence of point shaving among teams which are prohibitively favored by Las Vegas bookmakers.

let me think back when i was in college...hmmm...ate ramon noodles and 10 bux would be all i had for the week and it was mostly for beer... OF COURSE these kids would shave points for MONEY, especially if they thought they could never get caught....anyone who thinks this doesn't go on is quite naive.

i dont. Most college players are way to stupid to keep their mouths shut about stuff like this. The game is just random because these kids arnt professionals.

Anyone willing to dig up data on Duke covering the 1st half and not the entire game when they are a 12 point or more favorite for the game?
