As our government puts their hands in our pockets again for the $80 million dollar emergency spending bill to pay for the Iraq War, it is more of the same on both sides. Included in this bill is about $20 billion dollars of projects that have nothing to do with Iraq or any war. We have $250 million in subsidies to catfish farmers; $11 million for congressional salaries and expenses; $98 million for a research lab in Iowa - and the list goes on.

I think it's time we tell our Congress a few of things. First they can have same health care plan they give our troops. Second there salaries can be cut 15% right now. Third there retirement can be in line with the private sector and out troops. I can not believe at age 62 a 8 year congressman can get 100 grand a year for retirement. And it goes up from there. Lot of you folks like Bird. Well he will get close to 215 grand a year when he reitires end of his term. Those numbers are BS. A 5 star general puts in 30 years and get 85 grand a year. That is exceptable for all those congressman.
As for catfish farmers there doing very well why do they ned 250 million. It's one of the best growing business in the country.

I usually don't get annoyed about how our politicians do things, I guess I am used to it. But these add ons to bills is my biggest gripe.I don't know why there aren't any media coverage about this?

The pork is eating us up. It amounts to a significant sum of money and sadly it occurs on all levels of government. Why doesn't it make the news is anybody's guess. That is your money and my money going to subsidize catfish farmers, etc.

djv agreed with everything you say. Ironic how everyone is behind the soldiers now, I still see many many in Boston hospitals, their health care sucks, and its embarrassing and unconscionable. As for Iowa Laboratories, wonder if those are the same that developed that anthrax years back??
