Pool Help

Can anyone provide any advice for a local NASCAR pool I get myself into every year......

Driver points for the year. I have a couple of groups where I'm not even sure if guys have rides secured for the whole year. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

RIGGS/SORENSON/KVAPIL/MENARD

STREMME/REUTIMANN/R.GORDON/WALTRIP

NEWMAN/MEARS/RAGAN/VICKERS
I'm torn between Ragan and Vickers? :shrug:

Stremme should be pretty decent this year hoping into an established ride already in the top 35 as he's in the 12 car. Reutimann finished pretty strong last year and he has a big upside in my opinion. Can't decide but I would definitely lean to one of those two in that category.

I'd lean to Kvapil in the first group.

totally agree between Ragan and Vickers...tough call but I have to think that Ragan is going to have the better equiptment week in and week out.

not sure how all that lines up with your thinking but good luck!

I appreciate the info on Stremme. I'll take him.
I also agree with Ragan....I think Roush will be consistent this year. And I'm leaning towards Kvapil. I think he has enough talent to scrape some points out of his equipment, which might actually be improved from last year?

Stremme slight edge over Reut I think as well although the Waltrip team got stronger as the year went on(both Reut and Waltrip).

I say Kvapil and Menard is a tossup.

I give Ragan a slight edge over Vickers.Ragan was a rock for the most part last year.

This is what I've got fellas....If you see anything you strongly disagree with let me know. First one is non-negotiable. I can't go against Kenseth, and besides, he's got a new crew chief this year, so I'm looking for some improvement.

Well you have to have some brass ones to take Kenseth over Johnson. Kenseth didn't win a race last year and his team was in disarray most of the season.
I think Earnhardt will be better this year but you can't really go wrong with Hamlin either,
Lagano is a no brainer in the 20 car.

The one good thing about taking Kenseth is NO ONE else will so you gain an advantage if he does bounce back although against those guys in the standings it won't be a big one.

Don't forget about Carl the man is going to be hungrier then ever.
He is a fitness nut and is in tremendous shape and shows no fear.
I'm not straying you away from Kenseth but just a heads up.
I just hope we have a different champion this year preferably Harvick :mj09: :00hour

Man, you guys really don't like Kenseth in there, huh? :shrug:

The pool only costs $20 to enter, but last year first place was worth over $2,000.

A couple of things I have learned entering this for the past few years: (i) you need to have secured rides for the guys in the last groups - I have been dinked in past years because guys either don't have top 35 cars and need to qualify every race, or they lose their ride altogether (ie: Jeremy Mayfield last year ) (ii) Every kid and their dog takes Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jimmie Johnson is almost in the same boat. If you can get them beat (I know, big IF), you can make up a lot of ground on almost everyone.

fox sports puts out a report on each driver..

I use it every year to help choose my team.

I can't imagine your deadline for entry is before these reports come out..
