Well, it took me longer than most to get to 1000 but here I am and I plan to win the all star game. As always, when this kinda talent assembles, anything can happen. I'm just looking for an edge. I'd probably be better off just watching this one BUT....I'll be on the Sluggers from the National League.Heres why.
1.Batting-Cal Ripken weakens the AL starting lineup. His 230ish BA stands out among this talent. Other than that the two starting lineups are pretty even. Both starting lineups have collective batting averages about .313........ Power- edge to the NL big time.Starters have 60+ more HRs and a collective slugging avg. 100 points higher than AL counterparts.......Reserves- nice edge to NL. Floyd-.349, Walker-.343, Berkman-.355, Giles-.344, Alou-.365, Casey-.332, Pujlos-.329, Guerrero-.328/ ALs best include Roberto-.356, Bernie-.322, Giambi + Sweeny at .327 Power edge to NL reserves.
2.Pitching. Of the starters the AL seems more hittable. Slight edge, collectively, to the NL with a WHIP of 1.16 to the AL 1.20. With Johnson,Park and Burkett ERAs all under 3.00 the edge goes to the NL starters if they don't walk themselves into trouble. These 3 have pitched 389 innings and given up only 288 hits. AL not as dominant on best
imho.
So i still need to look at the intangibles such as 1. whos hurtin 2. whos slumpin 3. whos pumped etc. but right now I'm on the NL
