I see where all these liberal states that throw money away on their off-the wall agendas not want to penalize the states that are efficient to pay for their fuk ups again. This shit is getting old.
I am sick of these loud mouths spewing their shit and then come back:cry: please help us. Fuk em. Let Hilliary and Bill kick back some book proceeds they made from their scandals or let the jurys that award these unreal judgements or the attorneys with class action windfalls, and movie stars pay the piper.
I like my little low profile states ave electric bill of $80 a month.
Of course we could spend money on upgrades not having to deal with excessive aids, illegal aliens funding ect.
Make the liberals pay for their errors and don't continue to bail them out and maybe they will see the light or maybe darkness in this case. :p

DTB, here is a quote from the article you linked us to.

"Federal efforts to boost investments in power lines by creating standardized power grid rules have run into major roadblocks in Congress.
Lawmakers and state regulators in low-cost power states, like Kentucky, have thwarted efforts by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (news - web sites) to standardize grid rules by combining transmission grids into super-regional groups"

Seems to me Congress is run the Republicans and has been since Clintons first term so could you please explain to me how this is a "Liberal" problem?

Right on, Dog.

The line from the article directly after Stevie's quote: "Opponents say they have nothing to gain from a single set of rules that could force retail and commercial customers to pony up money for power line upgrades that will largely benefit customers in other high-cost power states. "

Can you really argue with this logic? So a state should be able to run itself into the ground, and then cry when the states were more responsible with their budgets won't pass a bill to bail them out?

Nice philosophy.

I guess what I dont undestand why that bill in congress to up grade our system in this counrty is held up for just one big issue. Drilling for oil in Alalska. Pass a bill with out it. Revisit that another time. Congress has all the power. It is incomplete controll by one party and has been for 6 years now.
I also see the power outage is believed to have stated in Ohio. The company where it started has little to say about why it has not been keeping it's equipment up to grade as expected. But that company had $450000 to give to the republican party last election.
Maybe that money could have been put to better use. Also keep in mind some states have more hidro power. It was built by the Feds many years ago and gives out cheap energy. Not everyone so lucky. So there is more to this story then printed.

I agree, djv, that there is always more to the story. I think my biggest problem is how big our Federal government has become. I wish we could get back to where individual states decided their fate more.

In this case, the states that acquire more energy from hydro or other sources would use that as a revenue stream. California is rich with other industry that would make up for their lack of power. This way, I don't care what California passes and Californians shouldn't care what other states pass--as long as it does not effect their territory such as pollution. If a state goes into a budget crisis, they only have one place to point a finger.

Isn't this the way our forefathers intended our country to be run? Having a small central government to only run the programs that were necessary?

Smaller in DC is fine with me. What I like to see more of. Is states working with each other on programs and sharing more things. Not all have the same to give. But there has to be money saving for those who find ways to do so.
