$ runners don't have a good ride not to mention that Toyotas are overpriced. At least the SUV's and trucks are. Get her a Range Rover(not a new one) and she'll never want another car. You can't beat em', and the ride is as smooth as you'll ever get. Also, Jeep Cherookees are really good too. Both of these vehicles, I think, are the best SUV's you can get for the price.

Senor--My in-laws have an Avalon and an Acura 3.2 TL. The Avalon looks nicer (IMO), but the Acura is a better driving/riding car.

I personally think the 4Runner is the most over-rated car on the road. I feel like I am in a movie theater seat as narrow as they are. I'm not a big guy or anything (180 lbs.), but I don't see how a bigger person would ride comfortably in these.

I personally drive an Infiniti Q45 (1994--110,000) and highly reccomend checking these cars out. I'm not sure what model is in the same class as the Camry, but I would give them a look at least. You could probably get a better deal on an Infiniti since they are not as popular.

Good luck!

Everything said about the 4 Runners are true. Non-spacious and the ride sucks ass...makes the road seem like it's littered with potholes.

4 runner

4 runner

I'm @ 6'3 250 lbs & I have no problem fitting into my 4runner.
Nothing I would want to take state to state by any means.

As far as the ride goes, great suspension & new Michelins make my ride smooth. Not like a town car or anything but I can tow the boat to the lake & its rides fine.

Best thing is I have hardly put any $$ in it. Oh & of course it's one of the most dependable cars you can own.

Jeeps

I wouldn't but one if they gave me 20% off. I seen many of wrecks with these vehicles & you would be amazed at the amount of styrofoam used. Especially in the bumpers.

Don't rule out the Subaru Outback or the Subaru Forester. Lots of space. Reliable. Very solid and rigid.

The Outback has about as much interior space as a Jimmy or a Blazer, but is a much better vehicle in terms of problems, interior layout, comfort, ride. I think used outbacks are more expensive, but that's for a good reason. Great for dogs and kids.

I drive a '97 outback and its the best car I've ever had. all wheel drive. anti-lock brakes, a flat 4 2.4 liter which has enough power for anything I want to do and handles well because of the low center of gravity and "wheels that slip to the wheels that grip" technlogy or whatever they call it. very safe, too, for wife and kids.

if you're going the sedan route, the honda accord is similar to the camry, no? I always had the impression that they are reliable.
