Not too interested in this race; I may not play a thing and didn't do nearly as much work on this race, BUT..... hear's some thoughts:
CHrome just contined to play with the wannabees and proved he doesn't need Cal. tracks and sunshine to beat this year's 3 yr. old competition. I did do some pace analysis and these ON THEIR BEST DAYS may be able to upset Chrome...
No. 8, Social Inclusion the ONLY horse with favorite type odds other than Chrome and that makes me less interested in this race. That Gulfstream ALOWANCE race he ran in March beats Chrome IF you believe in pace calculations. I don't know what the adjustment needs to be made between Gulfstream and S.A., but he finished that race by enough margin than Chrome can to leave no doubt about his chances vs. the Derby winnah. This pick has a trainer with PLENTY of experience (ESP. in Fla.) and a very nice workout the other day at PIMLICO.
No. 3 Cal Chrome: ..er, OF COURSE.
No. 2 that A-Rod hoss. Had enough bad luck in the Derby to just ignore that race and moves into a very nice post for this race, You just cannot fault any one of his previous efforts. I used his Fountain of Youth race to compare to Chrome's mile and 1/16 best efforts and he (A-Rod) comes out on top. BTW, the winnah of that race was "my" Wildcat Red" hoss. Don't know why he ain't entered for the Preakness and I WOULD be interested in playing him if he was entered in Sat's race. He had a tough go of it in the Derby too.
LONGshot plick - No. 9, Pablo Del Monte (say WHA?), 20-1. Hey, this one sure looks better, to me anyways, than the hoss that flew home to get the Place in the Derby and was gaining on Chrome in the Derby. Excellent connections and workouts (last one at Pimlico) ... ... for me, this one has some "SHOCK" appeal. :scared
Philly dirt bombs? No, no, I'm still on hossy vacation for awhile longer.
EDITED: Sorry, just hadda come back to add one.. Kid Cruz, no. 7. Easy enough to add a Win or W/PL bet on this one cause the odds should be way up there. This one closes like ... er, Silky Sullivan, on his absolutely best days. And --- NO, I never saw Silky run live.
BTW, IF anybody wants to see something that they won't believe their eyes, let me know and I'll post a video of Silky Sullivan in action.
Good luck
