The recession ended 2 years ago? Seriously???

Someone should inform the 15 million people out of work.

I think Krauty's in the early stages of Dimentia. He should get that checked. :0003

Trench, you're not ENTITLED to your own FACTS.

By Phil Izzo
The National Bureau of Economic Research, the arbiter of the start and end dates of a recession, determined that the recession that began in December 2007 ended in June 2009.

The business-cycle dating committee met by phone on Sunday and came to the determination. ?In determining that a trough occurred in June 2009, the committee did not conclude that economic conditions since that month have been favorable or that the economy has returned to operating at normal capacity. Rather, the committee determined only that the recession ended and a recovery began in that month,? the committee said in a statement. The 2007-2009 recession is the longest in the post-WWII period. (Read related article.)

The decision by the NBER means that any future downturn in the economy would be considered a new recession and not a continuation of the recession that began in 2007.

?The committee waited to make its decision until revisions in the National Income and Product Accounts, released on July 30 and August 27, 2010, clarified the 2009 time path of the two broadest measures of economic activity, real Gross Domestic Product (real GDP) and real Gross Domestic Income (real GDI). The committee noted that in the most recent data, for the second quarter of 2010, the average of real GDP and real GDI was 3.1 percent above its low in the second quarter of 2009 but remained 1.3 percent below the previous peak which was reached in the fourth quarter of 2007,? the committee said. (See charts comparing this recession to previous ones.)

Maybe shoving that ObamaCare down our throat was a BAD Idea, ya think?

Oh, sorry Ronnie. I guess those 15 million unemployed Americans should be celebrating because Krauty's decided the recession ended 2 years ago!!! :00hour :00hour

I guess that Stimulus Bill caused a miraculous turnaround in the global economy. It's amazing what $819 billion in tax cuts, food stamps and unemployment benefits can accomplish.

The only thing I can't figure out is what you Tea Baggers have been whining about for the past 2 years then?

First, Obama's not my hero. You are.

Second, it's not his recession. It's your hero's recession... you know, the guy who went on an 8 year spending spree and untethered the financial and corporate sectors so they could be unfettered by those messy ol' regulations.

PITY REALLY.

Obama stands by 'Recovery Summer'

By Jordan Fabian - 09/03/10 10:46 AM ET

President Obama on Friday said he has no regrets about describing the last three months as the "Recovery Summer."

"I don't regret the notion that we are moving forward because of the steps that we have taken," Obama said in response to a question after he offered comments on the latest unemployment figures.

The administration described the summer of 2010 as "recovery summer" because a large amount of the 2009 stimulus package was being spent over the summer. But job growth slowed dramatically over the summer amid concerns the economy was moving into a double-dip recession, and Republicans have made fun of the moniker.

The president's remarks came after the Labor Department released jobs data showing unemployment rising from 9.5 to 9.6 percent. The private sector created 67,000 jobs, but overall the economy lost 54,000 jobs.

Those numbers were better than expected, and are easing concerns about a double-dip recession. Still, Republicans argued Friday they fall short of a real recovery.

The administration has held firm that its policies are slowly but surely nursing the economy back to health.

"We are confident we are moving in the right direction but we want to make sure this economy" is getting even stronger, Obama said on Friday.

Obama said he would be offering a new package of ideas on the economy next week.

What an A**, really is that your solution to keep driving us off the cliff >>or is that your goal. BY really on 09/03/2010 at 11:12

earth to bamster ?> you're stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment from ever going over 7% - this you promised to the american people, it was the best guess of your economists. its been stuck at 9.5 for the entire summer and now its rising BACK towards 10.0%. take responsibility for once! you didnt inherit anything. an inheritance is something you are given. the presidency of the united states is something you TOOK ON. if you dont want to do anymore fine just resign and let old Joe the Biden take over.

Sorry, Ronnie.

It's true that Barry hasn't been able to fix Dubya's recession, but it is Dubya's recession.

Were you in a coma in 2008???

Following the logic here,
if the Recession is GW's?

Then wouldn't the 9/11 attacks
be Clintons and the whacking of Bin Laden be Gw's?

I seem to recall the Repukeagans blaming Clinton for 9-11
Watch this.....Bush really blew it on 9-11...

:mj07: :mj07: And seeing as where this recession started deep into Bushes watch I would say it is his. I seem to remember losing 750,000 jobs a month. And I don't think America voted Obama in on a campaign of Hope and Change if they thought things were going good under the Bush.

Steve,

please remember that I blame them all !

9/11, recession, my bad breath...

All of these politicians can hug a root !

I was simply following a linear chart of "Who is to blame"

When does the "Blame Gee Wiz" end ?

If Barry get's a second round, will it still be George's fault, or will he have to blame the term before him?

If a Republican moves in and redecorates, will the be allowed to blame barry for 24-36 months?

I've stated many times that Barry's continuation of Dubya's policies (Iraq, Afghanistan, tax cuts for the wealthy) and his misguided Stimulus spending have perpetuated The Great Recession that began with the collapse of the financial sector on Sept. 15th, 2008.

The 9/11 and OBL analogies are just plain silly.

As Trench said we blame Obama for not giving us the change he promised. He has continued with the Bush policies that led us into thid mess. It is important that this be noted because idiots like Skull and DTB push the same policies that led us into this mess as if everything was going great before Obama came on the scene.

So yes I contiue to blame Bush for starting it and Obama for not ending it.

As far as I can see since 9-11 the rich have gotten richer and middle class has gotten poorer.

Do you think Bin Laden could have hoped for this much?

And this is the biggest reason tools like doggie and skul should be mocked. The policies have stayed the same yet these guys are now all of a sudden upset. It's a fucking disgrace and why I have no respect for either one of them.
