I have a wireless setup run off my cable modem with a Linksys wireless router and the built in card in my laptop, how do I send something from the laptop to the printer hooked up to my desktop, do I need another piece of hardware or can I do it with just the wireless setup?

Thanks

I do the same thing, the PC needs to be hooked up to the router via a network cable and of course to the printer. I cant remember exactly how I set it up, will look for the link online that steps you through it. Basically you are looking to add a new printer through the wizard, and I believe you select network printer. It will show up as something like PRINTERTYPE on COMPUTERNAME

Win 2k?
Control Panel---->Printers----> Find your printer, right click, and choose "sharing"...From the main computer, you want to enable sharing within the network. Then, when printing from the laptop, choose "PRINTER X on DESKTOP Y" Y being the name of your desktop computer, and x, the printer.

Hope this helps

No new hardware, you have to share the printer on the desktop first, then install the printer on the laptop (do a "new printer" on it and select "network printer".

I run Windows XP w/ my printer upstairs. Downstairs I run ME without a printer.

Question is since my comp w/ XP doesn't come with a printer CD or Floppys how do I install the printer to my comp with ME ???

You should be able to download the driver from the respective printer company www. site. Then just put it on a floppy, or share it on your network, and install via that way.

If the two machines are connected, then why not share the printer on your XP machine and access it from the machine downstairs instead of carrying the printer up adn down every time you need to print with the respective machine???

If you did that, i.e., share the printer on the XP box, then you would not need installing the drivers on your ME machine.

Here is an excellent resource for you:

Good Luck!!!

Affirmative

Affirmative

both machines are wireless networked.

Printer is upstairs and I am trying to get the comp downstairs (ME) to be able to print upstairs (XP).

I tried to D/L the driver to ME but it's still not working.
and YES I did click share printer.

I'll try your link

BIG thanks
