If you trust your handicapping and have the nuts....sportsbetting can be very profitable.

The following is a chart showing your profit after hitting 10 games in a row. The maximum possible profit is "reduced", because I allowed for the juice in each subsequent wager. This means, after your first wager, at no time would you have any of your own money at risk.

*************************************************

#1.....Bet 100......Risk -110...Win......Profit.....100
#2.....Bet 90........Risk +1......Win......Profit.....190
#3.....Bet 170.......Risk +3......Win......Profit.....360
#4.....Bet 320.......Risk +8......Win......Profit.....680
#5.....Bet 610.......Risk +9......Win......Profit.....1,290
#6.....Bet 1,150.....Risk +25....Win......Profit.....2,440
#7.....Bet 2,200.....Risk +20....Win......Profit.....4,640
#8.....Bet 4,200.....Risk +20....Win......Profit.....8,840
#9.....Bet 8,000.....Risk +40....Win......Profit.....16,840
#10...Bet 15,000....Risk +340...Win......Profit.....31,840

Wilson,

LOL!

Hey, even if you lost your 10th wager for 15K, you'd still be ahead $340 !!

Aaahhh....Money Management !!!

The problem is that after you win the first one you really are using your own money. I have been doing this for years and though I have bet $5K several times before, I have never picked 10 in a row. I think my best was 6 or 7. Lines are to sharp and odds for best capper is about 60%.

It is a sweet thought though!:)

Bill,

Thanks for the reply.

I have many, many thoughts regarding handicapping and this approach.

Obviously, if one is going to use this approach, patience and discipline are essential.

Secondly, I believe the handicapper must reach a point in his handicapping ability where he is able to able to "grade' his selections.

For example, if a handicapper #1 goes 5-0 and wins all five games by 3 points or less, I'd say his handicapping was suspect.

Otoh, if a handicapper #2, goes 5-0 and wins all five games by 10 points or more, then it would seem this fella' knows what he's looking for and why.

Both handicappers are 5-0, but I think handicapper #2 has a better chance of hitting #6.

What would really be interesting is to see the picks of those top 8 handicappers and know how their picks performed against the closing line.

Finding a handicapper who can win 10 in a row WITH ALL 10 GAMES RESULTING IN A VERY SOLID COVER would be like finding the proverbial needle.

First, not all places are going to allow you to put $15000 down; certainly not on a college basketball total anywhere. Second, rigid money management systems never take into account the psychological aspects. As for being ahead $340 after missing on game 10, that may be true, regarding that specific streak. But lets say that streak came after 80 wagers, in which you were 40-40 and losing money. Would you be ready to go from being down $1500 or so to building up a $15000 profit yet back to break even or slightly down? I agree when you are going well is the time to up your wagers but increasing them 150 fold seems crazy; you know yourself how many games are decided by only a point or half point of the spread. You can say that you are playing "with the houses money, or the public's money", but let's face it, once we win, we consider it OUR money, not theirs. I'm not saying this can't work, but I do believe mentally it will tougher to follow thru than what you think.

I'd take a look at the run I have going with 7 wins in a row on my POD. All solid covers and nothing mistaken the line by a point or two. I play on Oly so my lines really aren't that bad but I'm riding the hot streak. Yes it can be done.
