The one nice thing for USC, is if they handle Michigan in the Rose Bowl, could well be a split national title.

Under the new BCS there is no split national title...hence "national championship game"

The AP is on its own & the BCS knows that. The AP can crown anyone they want National Champions so there can be a split National Title.

Mr. Hockey is right. Only the coaches poll is required to award the BCS title game winner the top spot. The AP poll can do whatever. If Nebraska had beaten Miami in 2001, there's a good chance the AP would've voted Oregon into the top spot.

As much as Scott's homer bullshit has turned me against USC this year, I would love for a split title, if for no other reason than to further tarnish the joke that is the BCS.

According to cbsportsline - Boise State's win was enough to knock USC's strength of schedule down and allow LSU to jump them. Very crazy system - hopefully this years disaster is the catalyst for change.
