Louisville basketball players want faster pace to get their mojo back
5:23 AM, Mar. 7, 2012
NEW YORK ? The University of Louisville men?s basketball players congregated in the Madison Square Garden stands Tuesday to scope out who would be their next opponent.

And while Seton Hall emerged with a 79-47 win over Providence, gathering last-minute intelligence on the Pirates was really secondary.

Given the Cardinals? recent performances, they figure their fate heading into their Big East Tournament opener today will be determined more by their execution than by how an opponent plays.

?It?s about us getting back to our style, our pace, how we want to play,? senior Kyle Kuric said.

The Cards (22-9) won at Seton Hall in their only regular-season meeting 60-51 on Jan. 28. The Pirates (20-11) are still viewed by many pundits as resting precariously on the NCAA Tournament bubble. A win against the seventh-seeded Cards would likely assure them a place among the 68.

But senior guard Chris Smith said U of L will match the Pirates? desperation ? the Cards? motivation is to get their stagnant offense going in the postseason. U of L has scored more than 60 points only once in the past six games.

?We lost two games in a row; I would say right now for us, it?s life or death,? Smith said, adding, ?We need to build momentum off this game.?

DO YOU BELIEVE IT?..... :SIB
