Cindy Sheehan went to Bush's ranch in Crawford, TX last week to protest the death of her son, a fallen U.S. soldier. She met Bush last year but has now dramatically changed her story of what took place when they met....

SHEEHAN 2005----

"Why did you kill my son?"
"There was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity.
Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party."...
"He came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies."

BUT....hmmmmm....regarding the same exact meeting last year she said this......

SHEEHAN 2004-----

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis. I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."
"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together."

(not really a debtable topic, I just found it interesting.....feel free to attack me or the president all you want though...I know you need it as much as you need oxygen ;) )

nothing to comment regarding a grieving mother. should not be used for any political purpose either way. she can say whatever she wants as far as i'm concerned.

i remember when the parents of nick berg bashed the administration vocally after their kid was beheaded by al qaeda slime. a bunch of panty-waste right wing radio hosts started bashing the father because of his comments. their attitude was so condescending and political driven, it made me sick. all i could think was "who the hell are they to even comment on what that father was going through?"

let people vent, criticize, whatever.

Well said, great post smurphy, a very good post.
I say that regardless of politics (and I do lean a bit to the right).

Any time a soldier dies it is tragic. There was a story on Dateline or Nightline or one of those lines last night that was incredible. If you saw it, you know what I mean. Not to downplay her grief, because it was obviously sincere and I doubt I would have felt any different. But I am assuming he volunteered because there is no draft, and both son and mother should have acknowledged the danger. Regardless of the circumstances, it is tragic.

As this mistake drags out in Iraq. We may find many soldiers families flip flopping. I just hope for those who have died already. And those who will. It some how makes more sense then it has so far.
Part of the problem has been create by the administration. There reasons for Iraq have flipped and flopped and change several times.

Well hers is more than a flip-flop in views. She is now "rewriting" what happened in a meeting with the President. While I dont agree I do respect her right to change her views on the war and whether her son's death was just. But to change her story is much more than that.

Sun - we need more posts from you in this section. I enjoy reading your football stuff, though don't always agree, but that is what makes it fun and interesting. Get involved in this forum - we would all welcome it.

Noone in this thread has the intention of saying or implying that we all should grieve in our different ways. one day, however, i hope that mother realizes what she said. george bush has not killed one single soldier. Our service is on Volunteer basis. I have a family stake in this war and will be absolutely crushed if my family member goes back to Iraq and gets injured or killed. But, we talked as a family, the inherent risks. I don't recall george Bush being there.

More from MoveOn re: this issue

BTW - you might wonder why I would be a member of this organization. Believe it or not, I like to see both sides of an issue. Reading MoveOn and NewsMax will be looking at topics from almost extreme ends. To me, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. But hearing both sides of a story never hurt. I am also a member of the ACLU. I almost never agree with them, but knowing what they are doing is interesting.

Dear MoveOn member,
On April 4th last year, 24-year-old Army Specialist Casey Sheehan died in Iraq. This week, while President Bush vacations in Texas, Casey's mother, Cindy Sheehan, sits vigil outside the president's ranch. Cindy says that she won't leave until President Bush meets with her to discuss the war?even if it means spending all of August there.

Cindy Sheehan was not an anti-war activist, but the loss of her son and the mounting evidence of deception by the Bush administration pushed her to speak out. While Cindy camps roadside in Texas, dozens of other military moms are flying to Texas to join her. Her story is starting to grab national attention, but Cindy needs our support. We're asking moms (and dads, siblings, spouses and kids) from all across America to help send a message by signing our letter of support to Cindy. Will you sign?

To add to the pressure on President Bush, we'll publish the number of signers and the best comments in a full two-page spread in the newspaper nearest to Crawford. We want to be able to print that at least 200,000 people signed the letter to Cindy before the Friday print deadline.

Cindy simply wants to meet with the president to ask him to tell the truth about why her son died?and to stop using Casey's and other soldiers' deaths to justify continuing the war. But Cindy's reflections on the war are also a reminder to all of us about the importance of getting involved:

I shamefully and regretfully admit that before Casey was killed in Iraq I didn't publicly speak out against the war. I didn't shout out and say, "Stop. Stop this insane rush to an invasion that has no basis in reality. Don't invade a country based on cherry-picked intelligence and despicable scare tactics. You don't use our country's precious lifeblood unless its absolutely necessary to defend America." If I had broken the bonds of my slavery to silence sooner, would Casey still be alive? I don't know.

Cindy's story is starting to grab national and international attention, creating a public relations problem for the White House. If we can help Cindy capture the focus of the country for even a couple of days we will sear into the memory of the public the image of the grieving mother?a morally pure reminder of the ultimate reason to end the war: the lost sons and daughters of moms everywhere.

Cindy has appeared on ABC, CNN, and FOX, and yesterday the lead editorial in The New York Times entitled "One Mother in Crawford" noted that "many Americans are with her, at least figuratively, at that dusty roadside in Crawford, expecting better answers." With the White House press corps camped just a short distance away at Bush's ranch, our newspaper ad will help prod them to pay attention to her.

The more of us who sign on, the more impact we'll have. Please sign on now at:

http://political.moveon.org/meetwithcindy/?id=5886-6404280-mG_IDIVbK4a0cRqyvdTx9w&t=4

In her grief and bravery, Cindy has become a symbol for millions of Americans who demand better answers about the Iraq war. Though right-wing pundits have attacked her personally, her honesty is unimpeachable. Now more and more mothers (and fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, sons and daughters) are standing up with Cindy. Please join us, and together, we'll make sure that President Bush can't escape the reality of this war?even in Crawford, Texas.

Thanks for all you do.

Noteworthy Avatar. The names of the 2 most dangerous men on the planet next to the name of the man who committed one of the most horrific crimes of the 20th century.

Although she doesn't expect Bush to meet with her in Crawford, she says if he did she would ask him whether he has encouraged his twin daughters to enlist.

Wow, what would Bush say? He has made this out to be a war to save the country from terror surely his family could do their part and enlist, but you know how chickenhawks like Bush, Cheney and Clinton think! The amazing thing is that they are estimating that millions of people are now supporting this lady and the police refuse to stop her protest. Old man Bush would of at least had the background to understand what sacrifices are necessary in war and at least emphasize with her grief since he was a true patriot but chickenhawks like Bush Jr, Cheney and Clinton have no concept of battle. What could you say to this lady on why her son died? For WMD's? Nope, for terrorism? Nope, Oil? Maybe damn this would be a tough one to explain since there is no rhyme or reason on why we are there that makes sense and has truth to it.

You might find this ladies listings under Michael Moores website interesting also. Appears she had one opinion then was captured by exreme left and exploited--would not consider her protesting as grieving but rather as political agenda.

The left pulled same stunt with 991 finding a handfull out of thousands that they could exploit--nothing new here.

Danmurphy - So Saddam exterminated 400,000 innocent people and buried them in the desert and you accuse Bush of committing "horrific crimes"????................ Nice logic. I can't believe you said that. What am absolute load of bullshit. I love the arguments that you liberals come up with!! As a fellow American, I almost feel sorry for you guys. (not really, it helps us true Americans win elections!!)

Thanks for sticking to the topic of the anti-war lady changing her story for financial gain. Now she's on michaelmoore.com!!! :142smilie

why do you care one way or another about this woman, charlie? it seems you have more sympathy for mass graves in iraq than you do one of our own. ...or do you use that example for political purpose, just like the flipflopping mother?

does she not have the right to flipflop, speak out, join michael moore's crusade, or whatever? what are you so concerned about? in a democracy, people are allowed to speak up. you ever lose a kid in war? what's up your ass so much about this woman?

PRICELESS    : :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

All you did was ask me a couple questions. Yeah your post was utterly halarious. Thanks for the laughing smileys. How's your hangover?

Why do I care?? Obviously a lot of people care! This woman has been on every goddamn TV channel. The liberal news media doesn't tell THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY!! Even though we have a VOLUNTEER military, this liberal propogandist is claiming that the president "killed her son". This is impossible. You flat out ignore the fact that this woman commended the president after meeting him, then flip flopped her entire story for political gain. Then you gripe at me for pointing out her blatant dishonesty!! That's wacky.

After her son died she met with Bush and went on record saying that the president gave her "THE GIFT OF HAPPINESS". Now she is on michaelmoore.com changing her entire story FOR A POLITICAL AGENDA!!!! Now her own family members say so. I'm just the messenger.

Instead of attacking me, how about explaining why this woman lied???
