PS2 online question

I am thinking of getting the modem thing tomorrow to start playing PS2 games online. Mostly NCAA2004 and Madden, but wonder if anyone has any problems with it. I have asked a friend of mine and he said that if people start losing, that they will just quit the game. And that when the people see your defense while lining up they will pause the game and set thier audibles over and over again after seeing your defense.
I want to play other people than my regular crowd, but if this starts happening I doubt I would want to play. Just wondering if anyone else has had these problems and if me having dial up makes the game play slower.
My biggest fear is playing some 12 year old who is just hitting buttons.

Dial up kills most games. Its not your fault, but most games played against someone with dialup will suffer from stutter.

I have had no problem with people abusing the audible system at all.

No matter what game you play online, you got the mofo cheaters... it really hurts this ps2 online scene!!

So far in NCAA 2004 online they have made vast improvements over Madden 2003 online. People could pull the plug right before the end of the game in Madden and there would be no result of the game. In the new NCAA if your opponent pulls you win the game and it appears as 2-0 on your game history. They have really improved the online experience this time and learned their lessons from last year.

I have no idea how this stuff works, but hopefully will in the next month or so. Anyway, I can understand being down 55-7 in the third quarter to someone I don't know and wanted to just quit. So am I understanding it correctly that it keeps your record? That would be cool, and I certainly think that pulling the plug should result in a W for the opponent. I wish I could be starting up on this game now, but every damn store I've been too in this town it's sold out, so hopefully soon.

I've played TONS of Madden online PS2..... haven't had problems with people changing their audibles??? Almost 300 games online so far and that hasn't happened once..... and you won't run into a 12 yr old just pushing buttons....

Thing that I don't like is that some players have a Blitz that works against every formation.... so they sit and watch to see which formation you pick...and then they pick their play..... so you hut it and sack.... no time at all.... and they do that on every down.... its beatable... but just no fun....

Some people know how to hide their formation when picking their plays... but I haven't figured that one out yet.....


The Biggest problem though is with people pulling..... and quitting..... Especially when you play someone ranked really high.... like happened to me a few days ago.... beat a guy ranked in the top 100..... and I used the Texans LOL..... he pulled with 1 second left in the game..... geez...

I've noticed that most of the ranked players have no real skillz... they are just the ones with the non stop blitzs.... and rely on key players like Keyshaun, Moss... every play etc.... Thats why I try to get them to be weaker teams now and I use the Texans.... and then we see who has the True Skills! Its funny how their blitzs don't work and no top notch guy to bomb it to every play.... when they don't have the top teams in the game.... and then their style of play (CHEAP IMO) becomes useless.... It would be cool if the rankings also were affected by what teams you use.... so if someone uses the Rams or Steelers every game and wins his ranking would be lower than someone who won the same games using the Texans instead....

I always try to play as realistic as possible... I remember when it first came out.... me and Acehist8 had a few good games.....

Can't wait for Madden 2004, but even more I'm waiting for NHL 2004 finally gonna be online!!

NCAA 2004, you can only see your opponent's formation (ie. Shotgun Trips, Goal Line) but not the plays.

Me and Teddy KGB played against each other last night, he's pretty good! I thought I was gonna work his shit all over the field but he suprised me and hung in there.

I'm thinking about playing on line also -

By reading the manual for NCAA 04 it appears you can check out your opponents tendences to quit and to go for it on 4th down when they are on their side of the field and its 4th and 25. This way you have real games

It may also be fun if there a Madjack's Journy. on NCAA 04
