more info

Minnesota Wild (30-22-8-1) at Ottawa Senators (39-16-7-1)

The Ottawa Senators, winners of three of their last four games, resume their quest for the National Hockey League's best record tonight when they welcome the Minnesota Wild to Corel Centre.

With 86 points, the Sens are one ahead of the Dallas Stars in the league's overall standings, but the Stars hold a game in hand. Ottawa is four ahead of New Jersey in the Eastern Conference race, but the Devils have a pair in hand.

Ottawa, 7-2-1 since the All-Star break, is 5-1-1 on Tuesdays this season. The Senators, 8-1-1 in their last 10 at home, will host Dallas on Thursday in the fourth portion of a six-game homestand.

Minnesota, 1-4-1 in its last six away from home. Ottawa went 2-0 against Minny last season and is 2-0-1 in the all-time series.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (29-21-8-4) at Tampa Bay Lightning (25-22-10-5)

The Bolts have won three of their last four on home ice.Tampa Bay is 3-0 against Pacific Division opponents this season.

Tampa Bay went 2-0 against Anaheim last season and has won three of the last four meetings.

Dallas Stars (35-12-14-1) at Boston Bruins (28-24-7-2)

With a win or tie tonight the Stars would extend their road unbeaten streak to 10 games, as they are 7-0-2 in their last nine away from home. That would match the longest such run in franchise history, as the 1998-99 team went 8-0-2 on hostile ice from January 12 - March 4, 1999.

Dallas - 17-2-6 in its last 25 tries

The Bruins have lost three of their last four at the FleetCenter.

Dallas is 6-0-2 in the last eight meetings with Boston, dating back to January 4, 1997. The Stars have won in three straight trips to Beantown.

Columbus Blue Jackets (22-31-6-2) at Nashville Predators (23-25-9-4)

Columbus Blue Jackets try and put the brakes on a five-game losing streak tonight when they head to Nashville to face off with the Predators at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Columbus, which has been outscored 27-5 in its last five, has lost nine of its last 10 away from home and will be wrapping up a five-game road stretch tonight. The Jackets are 7-21-3-1 on enemy ice this season.

Nashville is 5-1 in its last six games.

The Predators, have won four straight and six of their last seven at home, will be kicking off a three-game homestand that will also include visits from Pittsburgh and Chicago.

Nashville, which is 2-1-1 this season against the Blue Jackets, is 4-1-2 in its last seven and 6-3-1 in the last 10 matchups against Columbus, which is winless in its last four trips to the Music City (0-3-1).

Philadelphia Flyers (31-17-11-2) at Chicago Blackhawks (24-25-10-3)

The Chicago Blackhawks try to stall a three-game losing streak tonight when they close a disastrous four-game homestand against the Philadelphia Flyers at the United Center.

Chicago, which is winless in its last seven home games (0-6-1), has dropped the first three installments of its current stretch, including Sunday's 3-0 setback at the hands of the Dallas Stars.

Chicago, which has just three wins in its last 17 games (3-12-2) overall, is 14-11-4-1 on home ice this season.

Philadelphia, which will conclude a home-and-home set with the Hawks on Thursday, is 8-2-1-1 in its last 12 away from home and is 17-8-4-1 on the road this season.

The Flyers are 7-1-1 in their last nine matchups against the Blackhawks and 3-1-1 in their last five trips to the Windy City.

Edmonton Oilers (26-21-7-8) at Colorado Avalanche (29-15-11-6)

Joe Sakic returns for the Colorado Avalanche this evening when they host the Edmonton Oilers at the Pepsi Center. Sakic has been sidelined for the past 15 games with a broken bone in his right foot. The Avs went 12-1-1-1 without Sakic in the five weeks he missed with the injury.

The Avs are 6-0-1 in their last seven home games to improve to 13-9-7-2 in such contests. Colorado is 7-5-4-3 against the Northwest Division and 21-11-10-5 versus the Western Conference.

Edmonton has been struggling mightily in its last six games, going just 0-3-1-2. The Oilers sit in fourth place in the Northwest Division, two points behind third place Minnesota. Edmonton remains in eighth place in the Western Conference.

Edmonton has lost four straight road games to fall to 12-12-3-4 on foreign ice. The Oilers are 6-5-2-4 against the Northwest Division and 19-13-4-7 against the Western Conference.

Edmonton is 2-1-1 in the four meetings between these Northwest Division rivals this season. However, Colorado is 9-5-3 in the last 17 and 9-8-4 in the last 21 meetings. Edmonton is just 2-6-2 in its last 10 trips to Colorado.
