It was easy to forget QB Brees of San Diego. After all, he was in the same division as Gannon (OAK), Green (KC), and Griese (DEN).
Plus HC Schottenheimer's ball control O and Tomlinson running the ball, its hard to believe Brees threw much at all.

In the football fantasy draft @nfl.com, Brees was not selected at all, not in the first 168 picks. Talk about no respect. And last year was his first and only season to play, the coaching staff did not want him to get killed with a terrible Oline the year before. So he must be a total waste.

As it turned out last year, for the ENTIRE SEASON, Brees had:
60 yards less than QB Garcia - 49ers (3.75yds/game)
103 yards less than QB McNair - TEN (6.43yds/game)
406 yards less than QB Green - KC (25yds/game)

and he had no experience, was in a ball control offense, and had a young and injured Oline. His TDs were less, but experience and better blocking should help tremendously.

406 yards back from Trent Green? That's probably the ammount of yards they would have had had Charger receivers not dropped the ball so much :D

Don't forget to include Hasselbeck in that group. His numbers may be a bit deceptive, but he was a monster in the 2nd half of 2002.

Not sure if we already talked about this in this forum, but Hassleback only does well when the pressure is off. In the second half of the season, Seattle had nothing to play for. In the pre-season, Seattle has nothing to play for. That is the only times he plays well.

Who knows if this will change.

vd, you are on the money. if hasslebeck has a breakout year then we are both wrong. he has never shown anything until his team is or isn't playing for anything.
