Okay, these next two games will be the best of the tournament. If you don't watch another game during these Olympics, make sure you watch these two!

Pinny has a "money line" bet and a "to advance" bet. The price for both is nearly the same.

What is the difference?

the shootout if they're tied.

advanced means goes through to next round, either after regulation or after winning shootout, if they're tied after 60 minutes.

the other number means one team wins within regulation (60 minutes), ie, no shootout.

so, if you bet on a team to win within regulation, and it's tied after 60 minutes, you lose, even if the team goes on to win the shootout.

ML probably means who's winning after the third period (does it say 60 minutes?), so it does not include any possible shootouts.

To advance is who wins and moves on.

What is amazing about that is at the time I placed my bet the ML was +118 and the advance was +117.

Wouldn't you expect more difference in price?

I took Russia to advance, +118, Pinny.

Just dropped to +115, was at +120 a few minutes ago.

I assume the line reflects some slight difference in perceived shootout ability, and then whichever way bettors push the lines. Probably not a whole lot of difference between Russia and Canada when it comes to shootouts, just like the game itself.

When you think about it, if I'm thinking correctly, all taking the 60 minutes option does, when the advance price is the same, is give you another chance to lose and the book a chance to win!

If I'm going to throw away the chance to win in overtime, there has to be a better payoff. Slov is -103 (60 minutes), -105 to advance. For that extra 02 you get the chance your team wins in OT/shootout.
