I'll be the first to admit that I don't own a gun - a personal choice. I will also admit that I have no problem with others owning guns for hunting or even personal protection.

But I do have a question: maybe guys here on the board can shed some light on this:

Why are high capacity clips (allowing 30+ shots to be fired consecutively) available? Is there a legitimate hunting use for this?

Why are guns like Uzi's available? Do these get used for hunting or personal protection?

Again, I am not against guns at all. I just don't understand some of the high capacity type weapons, which are typically used during warfare - why are they allowed or needed in the general public?

Can someone please educate me on this? It is very possible they have uses that I'm not aware of?

Where it is real F ing COLD
Because people feel the need to own these type of guns. "If we don't have em, then only the criminals will have them."

People have tried to rid these guns but the NRA and Republicans use scare tactics saying if they take these guns away then they will eventually take all guns away.

because like everything else.. you can have the minimum, but why keep the low end if you can make it bigger and badder?

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Why are high capacity clips (allowing 30+ shots to be fired consecutively) available?

Mostly for reasons Marine mentioned. I had a TEC-22 once with long banana clip I cut and taped another clip on it to make it longer and have some fun to see if the weapon could handle it all. It couldn't.

Is there a legitimate hunting use for this?

Why do you think that question is relevant?

Well,

I'm happy to know that you would be the first to admit that you don't own a firearm. Who else, besides yourself would come to that conclusion?

If it is education you want on these issues, look into your State Gun Ownership Group.

There are those who want to peg me as a paranoid gun nut. You are just another part of the problem who stands there in judgement and falsely accuses people because of ANY OF THEIR BELIEFS.

There are those have,
and those who wish they had.

What are you gonna do when the power grid gets shut down and your battery operated toy won't run?

Don't worry about me, I already have my solution bunny hugger

Terry Ray:

Reason I thought that question was relevant - other than personal protection, I thought that was the main reason folks had them (hunting is big here in the north).

Illumini - wasn't accusing anyone of anything - was just trying to understand why someone would own an Uzi or high capacity magazine, that's all.

If a person is not into gun ownership, it is something they sure you wouldn't understand...

These are allowed because a certain president lifted the ban on these killing machines to appease the gun lobby aka NRA. Now most of the nuts look to buy them. Bad for us. Good for the NRA and gun sellers.:0074

I wasn't referring to you Mags

This statement should make it clear as to whom I was talking about.

would you want to pull the trigger on an empty chamber in the event of one?:nono:

if you did you would be :sadwave:

:scared it does happen, pick up a copy of the American Rifleman, the NRA's monthly mag, read the article with newpaper clips of actual events as reported, "The Armed Citizen"

the one I like the best was the Grandma that took out a robber in a motel room here in Columbus during the Quarter Horse Congress :0074

it`s pretty much a state`s issue..you can get a state by state breakdown in wikipedia(although, as with anything wikipedia, accuracy can be a bit dodgy)......

read over the original statement,

several times,

you claim to be an intellectual

I don't see it

You are trying to put me into a box, that I DO NOT FIT IN.

So again read it again, have someone read it to you to help you understand what I said.

What I didn't say was that my solution had anything to do with firearms.

Get back to me once you figure it out

If I had a Uzi for home protection I would be worried that I would shoot my front room up if someone broke in:facepalm:

I'm for owning guns for personal home protection. I own a Berreta and currently saving for a shotgun

But if you require/want a high capacity firearm (like in the Arizona shooting) then your mindset is that of someone who is going to war

Why do we have cars that go over 65 MPH? Why do we allow the sale of a Lamborghini that has the potential to hit speeds upwards of 200 MPH? If I owned a car such as that, would I automatically be labeled a "car nut" and then judged negatively by random individuals on a website because they choose to own a Camry? What purpose does a vehicle like that serve? Why do we allow any person to install a push-bar on their vehicle when, if involved in a collision, the end result will be much worse for the individual on the receiving end. Who knows man.
