At Gameday, two of the UEFA Champions League games are listed like this:

Arsenal (+135)
Draw (+220)
PSV Eindhoven (+170)

AND

Valencia (+135)
Draw (+220)
Spartak Moscow (+175)

How can both sides be ML dogs? Couldn't you wager on both sides and risk a draw. Or is that what the books are thinking this game will be?

I am clueless here, so any answers will help.

Thanks,

dawgball,

Draws/ties in soccer are quite common and the odds reflect the probabilities of a draw accurately. Also, if you break down most of those 3-way betting options they turn out to be ripoffs if worked down to 2 sided moneylines. It is better to bet on the spreads offered or moneylines which refund ties...

- if u r betting football, best to find a book that offers "asian handicap" or spread bets, very hard to win regularly with the 3-way options W/D/L...
over/under 2.5 goals is the other betting option that offers good value..

Thanks for the replies. I am not planning on betting and soccer anytime soon. I am a big fan of the sport, so I get to watch some good matches (thank you, FOX Sport World) but most of them are not live. Watched The Reds over my lunch break today.

I was just curious as to why both would be dogs. I trust that they know what they are doing at the books, but I knew I would get some good answers from the folks here.

Thanks again.
