Do you think that there is EVER anything we can do about special interests, pork projects, our political representatives, as far as spending our tax money for these things. We always hear about astronomical costs involved in military projects. We hear about this democrat who got such and such into a piece of legislation as an add on. We hear about money appropriated for a republican's home state for a study on whatever.
I know there probably is no real answer for this. It goes on as a part of our electoral and representative way of life. It's part of being elected, and staying in the job. Everyone out to "get theirs" and show the people they represent that they are "working in their interests."
I am getting more frustrated by this. Both parties. Any thoughts on this? How about making these projects more public somehow? How about a citizen's committee to study the budget and report to Americans? A financial ceiling on projects, or a certain percentage each state cannot exceed for projects? I'm not making much sense here...but I think you get my drift.
I know the average person just does not take the time, nor care, about it enough to find out. But maybe if it was easier for them, we could enact real change. I don't know. I think it's part of why conservatives complain about paying so much in taxes, which makes sense. I think it's also why there is less money for programs, and that is why liberals want more money for things.
It seems to be a root of a real problem. And we have the wolves watching the chicken coop, in charge of it all.
