"I'd be interested to know the sites, and look into it. I like to look into the elusive as much as any other gambler. But I certainly wouldn't pay money for such info, or be willing to waste massive amounts of time."

You should seriously think about stopping now. It is nothing to go into half-ass.

The info is all over the net. But it takes time and drive and what I think is a little $$.

well i tell you what................some how there must be a formula....I agree that most people betting on a game dosesn't make it a smart play to go against..........

10 guys like a play at 10 dollars each and one guy who has all the info and all the inside info bets the other side at 100 it looks like all the betting and money is going on one side but realll y it is even....

Anybody have a site that actually shows how kmuch money is being bet on a side????????

You are correct if I based my picks based solely on this. I have 4 factors:

Line Movement
Number Ratings
Fundamental
Situational

Stopped dead in my tracks

I'm just not convinced that it's worth the investment of time and money.
I eagerly await someone to dissprove that.
It would be nice to see something like that working out nicely.

Of course I don't think my approach to the last idea would take any $$. A good amount of time yes. More than I feel up to sacrificing at the moment, but hey, tomorrow i may feel differently

gl with your plays

with that said the most common mistake that even longtime posters and winners make is getting involved in the public money.

there is NO PUBLIC MONEY going on the st. mary's/nevada game. NONE. There are wannabe handicappers trying to find an edge, there are joes guessing for action, and there may even actually be smart money.

but its important to note the distinction that whereas maybe 25 percent of the people watching the monday night game had action on it, and that's a lot of households.....outside of people on these boards and people in those colleges, NO ONE knows the game is going on or cares.

people wrecklessly throw public around all the time. your 73 percent is probably the percentage of internet handicappers who bet 10 bucks a game. doesn't make it bad. doesn't mean your info is wrong. i'm just so tired of people saying the public is smashing St. Mary's. The public doesn't even know what state St. Mary's is in.

Again, good luck with your play and by fading the percentages you can't go too wrong long term.

But also be careful with "smart money" if you are guessing at a one point line change. Could be a big tuna looking for action and guessing. smart money certainly doesn't play every game. and the public isn't chasing on this one.

gl hope you and IO win

every time i read your posts, i end up saying to myself 'this guy gets it'. seriously.

then again, i took a barrage of bullets from the q-factor posse when i said there was no reason for people to convince themselves of public money on portland and weber state. yes, portland and (lmao) weber state.

your lucid, rational posts are why i think youre one of the best here.

I'm still confused as to how one can distinguish between "sharp money" and the so called"square plays"...

unless you are consistently getting the best line possible, then you are a just a regular joe imo...there may be some good cappers out there but probably very few sharp money...

who the hell cares anyways...just cap the game however you do it...whatever capping methods you use to help you win is all good...either go traditionally with the #'s game...or confuse the shi t outta yourself by trying to figure out if a line move is by the sharps or public...

Gym rat
LAL/Hou total jumped 2 full points at Pinny just before tip off?

I think BDB posts his plays one way, in an effort to sway the line in his favor....then BAM hits the side he really wants.

BDB is right that most of this stuff is hocus pocus.
Still, some of it could be used to formulate a succesful strategy. Hocus pocus or not.

My posts were all about the thoery behind the stuff.
I didn't know there were services that did all the donkey work for such hocus pocus thoeries and provided alerts on a silver platter.
That being the case, customers of such services know how well certain strategies work, how often they occur and if they are worth investing in.

I don't see anybody offering up success and failure stories though.
This might not be the right part of the forum to do so, as evident reluctance shows, but i'm pretty sure one could do so in the "services" area. Perhaps somebody should.

In my opinion most ideas posted here are crap.
Improbable conspiracy theories.
That doesn't mean that one of them couldn't be used to form a succesful betting strategy though.
Some things just work.
And although i'd be ready to downright knock any ridiculous beliefs belying a certain system, I certainly wouldn't argue with any success it might achieve.
