I have heard some recent talk regarding single payer health care and every individual taking out their own insurance plan with insurors, like the car insurance industry. From a totally novice perspective, it seems like an idea worth looking at. Would think big and small businesses would like it, individuals might benefit from wide-open competition (again, totally novice perspective here), and it would accomplish freedom of choice, etc. I'm sure there are plenty of issues that be problematic - people who can't afford it would still be an issue like car insurance - and MANY people would have a very hard time with little money. But at face value, what would the drawbacks be from the insurance perspective?

Not that familiar with it either but believe most the draw backs would be on the people Chad -unless coverage was guarantee issued--and if so they could still rate each on individual basis.

If it followed current individuals rules--everyone would be medically underwritten on individual basis.
great deal for the healthy-unafordable- if they can get it at all for the unhealthy.
