Yes, I am blatantly asking for free advice and I will accept it for what it's worth.
On Tuesday I had an EGD.... I was told it was uneventful and a couple of biopsies were taken. I was under heavy sedation (but not general anesthesia) as another procedure was being performed while I was "out".
On Wednesday morning I felt like I'd been hit by a truck, particularly in my neck bilaterally. Since then, the parotid areas have been swelling to the point that I look a little chipmunky but there is no discernable airway compromise or dysphagia. The Surgi-center called me yesterday to followup and I told them about the swelling. I don't think I was talking to a nurse but was advised that, sometimes, they "may" perform the jaw thrust maneuver to protect the airway and that may have been the case with me. I was advised to call the GI doc directly if I had difficulty breathing.
Sleeping last night was a bit of a challenge as it's hard to keep your jaw from touching the pillow. The swelling was greater today and the area is still quite tender to the touch. Tonight, I guess I'll pop a couple of Extra Strength Tylenols tonight so I can get some rest.
If this is something that is truly typical, I don't really want to call my doctor. I'll have to call him from work and he'll probably want to see me before he advises me to just continue the Tylenol. I work over an hour from his office and I've missed enough time already.
Any advice or reassurance is appreciated! :sadwave:
P.S. I had this procedure done before and didn't experience anything like this. In fact, I didn't have this much swelling when my wisdom teeth were removed!
