Again, I don't cap a lot of baseball games during the summer as I usually save up and wait for college football season. But I've been doing ok so figured I'd continue until a cold streak comes along. . .

Looking at the Mariners/Phillies for Wednesday and can't believe Carib has this as a virtual pickem game. . . on the surface, it looks like the Mariners who have the best record in baseball and behind Meche with a 3.11 ERA and a 75% winning percentage on the road should be favored over the Phillies who are 3rd in their division and behind Padilla with a losing record and a 4.21 ERA.

There's gotta be a catch here as always. . . no way Vegas throws us a bone here so what is it? I remember always biting on the few games I played last year and would have played the Mariners in this scenerio and lost about 80% of the time.

So, I'm thinking about playing the Phillies pretty big. . .

Comments???

Nickelback.....I'm not on anything in this game, but can more/less tell you the reason for the near pickem line.

Basically, Padilla is much better than he has shown, plus he's much better at home only having allowed more than 2 earned runs one time out of his 5 home starts.

Meche is the same way with his home/away numbers. This year, he has a 2.18 ERA at home, but on the road, it jumps to 4.11

Meche in his career has a 2.98 ERA at home and a 4.86 Away ERA.

Home Umpire is Cooper who has shown a tendency to favor the road team.

I really don't think any bone is being thrown by Vegas, It looks like a "coin flip" type game to me. Seattle has been on such a big roll, which is reason enough not to play against them, but some of the numbers indicate Philly.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Seattle at Philadelphia (3) 3rd, 4th, 5th

Some interleague match ups are worth watching and this is one of them. Each team has excellent pitching with the Phillies fourth in the NL in ERA (3.66) and the Mariners third in the AL (3.87). Seattle?s offense is far superior at this point in the season (29 point differential in BA), so the edge goes to them here as they?ll likely be dogs in all three games. PREFERRED: Mariners in all games.

Seattle is 21-7 when on the road.
SEA is 8-1 in Meche's last nine starts.
The under is 6-2 in Meche's last eight starts.
The Phillies are 4-2 in their last six overall.
The Phillies are 1-6 in Padilla's last seven starts.
The under is 7-2-1 in PHI's last 10 overall.
