Just kidding, we will all get together next year and have a blast. Wood---what is wrong with switching balls on the green to save time? They said it has to be the same type of ball. To me these kind of guys are making the game better, not worse. Its the morons that act like they know how to plumb bob, and step off their yardages on their way to 98 that drive me nuts. those same guys usually never fix a ball mark, let alone 2 or 3, and never rake a trap. :cursin: I'm curious as to why you think this is wrong. I would imagine you break rules every time you play and don't realize it.

What does it cost to be a member of this "elitist" organization that you speak of: $15 dollars, for the entire year
that gets YOU a much needed Rule Book, Priority for US Open Tickets and much more....

just to give you some insight about my game
i have been playing competitively for the better part of 13 years, played on the collegiate level for 4 years and have been part of the major amateur tournament circuit in the Northeast for over 9 years. I would say that when go to the golf course I am quite sure about how to move around on the links without bending any rules.

Given that i am in my mid 20's i would say that golf has taken up a great deal of my time and energy, this is why i choose to defend the rules and David Fay's organization.

My mistake then on the rules part. I have played competitively myself, so I understand what you mean. But please answer my question on the switching of balls on the green. Since you are also a good player, I would be interested to hear your take.

i look at it this way, in golf there is always an "honor code" mentality out there on the links, if someone wanted to improve their lie, or use the old "foot wedge"--chances are good that they could probably get away with it, and lets face it: we all started at a point where the rules were not familiar to us and we were just looking for the better lie or clearer shot. At the end of the day, the player himself has the responsibility to attest to the scorecard that he did everything within his means to help insure that his round, along with those playing with him, played at a level that was on par to those he played with and no one person had an advantage over the others.

switching balls on the green, come on' like i said before, how long does it take to clean the ball when you approach the green. i dont care how dirty the ball is, a few wipe downs is certainly enough to make sure the dirt wont effect the roll and its certainly not time consuming. other than the person that is farthest away from the hole, the remaining 3 players could use this time to do what they have to in order to be ready when its their turn. i understand that not every golfer out there is of the same ability and its easier said than done to speed up play.

i am a person that is standing up for not switching balls on the green, would i call one of my buddies on it-absolutely not, personally i would not do it though, unless there was a clear cosemetic flaw in the ball that would affect the flight of movement of the ball , then i would "take the ball out of play" (which is legal).
for every argument that i make, i know there is probably 9 other players out there that go against me but this is where i stand.
