Can anyone tell me the difference between this year's Oregon squad, vs. the one that Ohio State embarrassed last year? I mean can they be that much better? If the Buckeyes can put a beat-down on them, then how does Auburn not bitch-slap them as well...???

Auburn to the bank...

So. Cal
not an oregon fan and not touting oregon as a pick but

this years offense is better and plays at a faster tempo than last years under masoli, which is hard for me to believe becasue masolli was pretty good at this offense last year.

ore brought everyone back this year and has stayed healthy but the way to beat them is to have a dominating d-line that causes all kinds of problems in the running game (like osu in the rose bowl last year)

is fairley and aub that kind of d-line????

I agree that this team seems to run at a higher pace than last year's squad. I'm sure you are going to see Aub try to slow down the offense from getting to the line of scrimmage quickly. I"m not saying they will fall down like Cal did, but Chizik has already spoken to officials about letting his team substitute on defense.

I may be wrong and Aub puts a beat down on the Ducks, but I really think this squad will eventually wear out the Tiger defense.

so would you say that the Auburn defense is not the caliber of OSU's defense (last year)?

front 4 yes
linebackers push
secondary no

auburn has a huge size and speed adv up front....if those guys cause havoc and dont tire out (which they might) they have a chance to slow down ore (upper 20's -low 30's) if they dont, ore might score 40+ (which i think they need to do to beat aub as i dont see ore slowing aub at all)

Chizik can speak to the officials until he is blue in the face but unless Oregon is making a substitution which most of the time they dont then Auburn doesnt have the right nor do the officials to substitute. Once the ball is set and Oregon is ready to go its game time if Auburn is substituting then they are going to get penalty after penalty running guys off and on. The refs are under no obligation to let them substitute and slow down Oregon.
