Anahiem lodged a protest to the game as Detroit batters Inge and Truby batted out of order. What effect does this have on the game?

Thanks,

Howie

Was wondering myself. Says at Pinnacle and Royal that they don't recognize protests for wagering purposes. Not sure what that means.

if they are saying that they batted out of order ,it would have to show that on the line up card that is turned into the hp ump at the start of the gm the carbon could be different due to teams giving some cards to each other early then a late change an home plate ump has it on his card but the opp team did not make change. if they did not call him out after reveiw it would not hold up,and bets will be graded to game and if there is no desicion which they should have by end of gm it will stand and if not it will still be graded to out come and changed later, but a protest never holds up. if this is the case which from what you say sounds like it is, the umps card is the officle card.

ctown guy would know the rule better then me he was one of the top pcl directors of umps for awhile and an umpire himself at one time.

thanks for the responses. i have always wondered what effect this would have on a game. there is no doubt that the 8th and 9th batters switched places between the first two times through the lineup.

If Anahiem wins, no harm.

But, what if Anahiem loses? What effect would this have on the pennant race? WOuld the league step in and give Anaheim the win??? Or, is this simply a way for the managers to bitch when they know they have no other recourse?

if they batted out of order the first time and angels were going to wait till they batted again, then nothing can be done if the 2nd time up was the right way ,and that is what had to happen ,sosa thought he would pull a quick one and catch them if it hurt him and he tried but he was saying that it was not the same in the first so it looks to me that the first time around it was wrong and when he tried to catch them when it hurt him the ump looked at his card and they were right at that time. angels need to learn the rule book better it has to be brought up at the time of the infraction,so even if they lost it would not of been over turned.

because if they were out of complience to what home plate ump's card had he would of looked at it and called the hitter out and all baserunners go back to where they were at the time of the last at bat.

so the first time was the wrong time and that is when it should of been said. will watch sports center and find out but i am sure that is the case if hp ump didnot make a call after reveiw,. it is almost impossable to win a protest in a mlb game inwhich it would revert a win to a lose or play over .

i saw one the other day that i knew and so did the pitching coach for the reds a base runner was on base for the red the ball from opp pitcher bounced and got stuck in the underside of chest protecter, well the reds pitching coach comes running on to field and starts to yell why the other coaches from both team and the ump was wondering what was going on after a few mins the shoe him off and shame on ump crew and reds manager because the rule states if a pitched ballgets lodged in any part of the catcher gear and he must retrive it out,all baserunners are awarded a base. i knew the rule and so did reds pitching coach but no one else did then later in the game they found the rule. thats why college and pro coaches should know the rule book and case book which that would and is in like they know their paycheck. and even wose for the ump crew not to know it.
