I keep getting these emails that say they are from Microsoft and the subjects are "Use this patch Immediately".

I never open them cause I think it's a scam, does anybody else get these and am I right or are they legit, I don't think they are...

DELETE DELETE DELETE!!!!
Do NOT open them, just delete them!!!!

Madjack:

It sounds like you've been spoofed!!!

You do NOT have the actual virus, but you're getting bounced!!! You want to prevent the bounces landing in your 'inbox', so you need create a rule in Outlook to filter out anything that has the subject line "Returned mail: User unknown". If you're using Hotmail to get your email, you can actually get the email in Outlook Express and create that filter in there. Then the bounces can be sent directly to the trash.

Try this:

Launch Outlook Express.
Then click on tools > accounts > add > mail >
and then just follow the prompts.
You will be prompted for your account, password, etc. Once that's set up and you're sending/receiving just fine.

Then you go to:
Tools > message rules > mail >
then filter based on whatever all of those messages your getting have in common (all of the ones you have been getting have that same subject line.)

Madjack:

A spoof from a virus does NOT mean you have the virus. What is happening is you are getting all the bounces of the e-mail addresses that are not accepting the viruses.

KMA, iknow i don't have the virus and i had this same problem last year when that other big worm thing was going around. when i set my OE to not accept the 'common subject' emails, my isp got overloaded with email and filled to my max, so i had to go there and delete them manually until i contacted them and they filtered it out on their end somehow.

make sense? i know something like that happened but i don't remember the particulars.
